"The Nature of Life"

        In
finite terms, the nature of life can hardly be comprehended. Thousands
upon thousands of categories and species, some not known, are in the earth.
It is astounding to think of the sheer volume of that which exists. Perhaps
it is because of the volume that we take the earth for granted. We are
casual about its inhabitants and, unless we are in a particular field,
we take new discoveries rather casually. We do not need to know the volume
and habitat of all living things, but we do need to respect that they
are here. As we enter a phase of change, take a moment and be thankful
for the earth and its inhabitants.
