Art

May art is in the collections of many people: family, friends, people I don't know real well, local musicians, and others such as Dusty Hill of ZZ Top, and Clifford Antone  of Antone's in Austin.  If you see anything you like that is no longer available feel free to contact me.  I am willing to take commissions.  mnelipovich@yahoo.com

New News:

01/11/06  -  Wow,  it's been a lonng time since I've updated this.  In a nutshell I've been keeping busy working, painting a little, and doing a little teaching of drums, and actually practicing.  Who knows, maybe one day I play some gigs soon, then again...

I would like to say I have a new exhibit up at Cypress Grill located on William Cannon, one block west of Mopac, next to Gold's Gym.  Phone  358-7474 www.cypressgrill.net.  I would like to thank John and everyone at the restaurant for letting me show art there and for their help.  I would also like to thank Liz and Kathi and everyone at CAS for getting me this show.  I appreciate it very much!!  The show will be up through February including  their Mardi Gras party.  And the show does include a few new pieces.  And I hear the food is GREAT.  I do plan on eating there real soon myself.  So check it out.  And thanks again everyone!!

In other news, I do plan to update, reorganize, and "redecorate" this website.  Hopefully it will happen sometime soon.  Maybe a little each week (it's a BIG project).  That's all for now.  Lot's of things to work on.

11/21/04- I have a few shows going on right now so check them out if you can:

Austin Visual Arts Assoc. Annual Show Oct. 28th thru Nov. 30th with the Opening Reception Oct. 28th 6-9pm.

"Jazz Seen" Exhibit at Guadalupe Arts Center Studio 234.  The center is at 16th and Guadalupe across from the Dog and Duck Pub.   This will be an Exhibit of art relating to Jazz.  Thanks to Ricardo Acevedo for getting me in on this.  There will be a second reception from 7-10 pm on Thurs Dec. 2nd, and the show will run through Dec.

Fall For Arts- Creative Arts Society Annual Exhibit: I have 4 pieces in this exhibit and my John Coltrane #4 was awarded with and Honorable Mention.  The show is at the Austin Community College Pinnacle campus in Oak Hill 7748 Highway 290 West Austin, Tx 512-223-8001.  This show will be up until Nov 29th.  There will be an Opening Reception Friday Oct. 29 for 6 to 8 pm.

10/14/04-  I you haven't seen it yet, I did an interview on my music and art with DRUM! Magazine for their website. To check it out click on the link: http://www.drummagazine.com The exact interview page is at: http://www.drummagazine.com/html/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=695  Thanks to Phil Hood and every one at DRUM! Magazine

Also 3 of my pieces will be auctioned off to benefit for American Youthworks.  One of those pieces is the Jimmy Rodgers from the Austin Premiere of "It Ain't Nothin'..."  This silent auction will occur during their big bash and fundraisers at Antone's on Thurs. Oct. 21st.  6pm -?   Antone's is located at 5th and Lavaca, but I believe the event is sold out.  It does feature music by Gary Clark Jr. and also Eve Monsees.   For more information call American Youthworks at 512-472-8220.  or got to www.americanyouthworks.org/   One of the many things American Youthworks does is help children who never finished High School earn their GED and get additional education for job placement.  Thanks to Susan Antone and Stephanie and everyone there.

One more thing, the documentary on the creation of the art for the "It Ain't Nothin' But The Blues" that was filmed by my good friend Fred Shipman, is in the editing phase.  A documentary on the documentary will be filmed later.  If you think art and music is difficult try making a documentary.  When it is complete we hope to have a clip of it on this website (although I've got to get more room).  And it should be available on DVD through me, to family, friends and whomever may want to see the whole thing.   I am told so far it is at the 20 minute mark.   Maybe it will be in theaters like  "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster", but ours will have more explosions, car chases, and lasers.   ;)   I'm sure it will be entertaining.  Fred's a good film maker.

And finally, I have probably 10 to 12 new pieces that I hope to have on the website very soon.  I'm trying to get my act together on that.

And thank you to everyone at the Zachary Scott Theatre.   So far 3 of the pieces in that show are sold (Sacred Heart, BB King, Leadbelly) and I am told a few others may be sold very soon.

Thank you all,

Marc
