| True Love Conquers All - Chapter 23-24 Jocelyn: Justin, what are you doing here? ::Jocelyn ran up to Justin and threw her arms around his neck as tight as she could.:: Justin: Jocelyn, your dad is in the hospital. ::Jocelyn slowly pulled away from Justin.:: Jocelyn: What? ::Jocelyn's voice was trembling.:: Justin: I came in town earlier to suprise you and about an hour after I got here, your dad started having chest pains. They got really bad and your mom took him to the hospital. She just called and said that he had a heart attack. Jocelyn: ::on the verge of tears:: Oh my god, is he alright? Justin, please tell me that he's alright. Justin: I don't know Jocelyn. They were having to run some tests. Do you want to go up there? Jocelyn: Yeah, but I can't drive. I'm freaking out too much. Britney: I'll drive your Durango. Jocelyn: Thanks Britney. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The drive to the hospital was long and hard for Jocelyn. The only thing that kept her calm was strength of Justin's arms around her and his voice calming her. When they got up there, they went straight to the room that Jocelyn's mom had told Justin to go to. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Daddy? Ron: Hey Jocelyn. Jocelyn: What did you find out? Ron: Nothing. They haven't been in to talk to me yet. ::Justin then, the doctor walkes in.:: Doctor: Mr Langlois... After doing the tests, we found out that the main artery to your heart is 80% blocked. That is what caused the heartattack. We need to do open-heart surgery and make a bypass of that artery. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After Justin heard the news, he looked over at Jocelyn and he could see her lower lip beginning to quiver. Realizing that she was about to break down, Justin quickly moved to put his arms around her. She realized why he had done this and squeezed his hand as a way of thanking him. The doctor told them that the surgery would be at 8am on Tuesday morning, which was the day that Jocelyn and Britney were scheduled to appear on TRL. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: I can't leave with my father having a major surgery. Why don't you just go? Britney: I'm not going without you. It wouldn't be right. Lets just cancel. Jocelyn: We can't cancel. ::Justin walks in:: Justin: Your father wants you to go. Jocelyn: How do you know that? Justin: I was just in there talking to him. He asked me if you had anything scheduled for Tuesday and I told him about the TRL thing. He wanted me to come out here and tell you to go. Jocelyn: I don't know if I feel up to going, knowing that he's back here having major surgery. Justin: Would you go if I stayed here and called you as soon as we found out something? Jocelyn: Well I guess I could, but I feel bad since you came up to see me and I'm leaving. Justin: Don't feel bad. I'm worried about your dad too. I want you to go and I know that your fans want you to be there. Jocelyn: Well I definitely don't want to let me fans down.... Okay... I'll go. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When it was time to leave on Tuesday, Jocelyn drove to the airport and left her Durango there so that when they go back, Jocelyn and Britney could just jump into the car and drive straight to the hospital. They arrived in New York City at 4pm and headed straight to the MTV studio. When TRL came back from break before the number 4 video, Jocelyn and Britney were there with Carson. They talked about the song and how it all came about. After the number 2 video, they world premiered "The Boy Is Mine" and Jocelyn insisted that she needed to leave. On the airplane on the way back, Jocelyn called Justin on his cellphone. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: So how's my dad? Justin: They had to push the surgery back so we haven't heard anything yet. He should be out when you get in. How was the show? Jocelyn: It went good. There were soo many people there. The police in New York made them close the blinds. It was crazy. Justin: The combination of your and Britney's fans is enormous. Y'all's video is going to be huge! Jocelyn: We both really hope so. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Jocelyn and Britney got back to the hotel, they went straight to the waiting room and to Jocelyn suprise, her best friends (Anna, Shanna and Kara) were there. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: What are you guys doing here? Anna: Justin called us. He figured that you could use the support. Jocelyn: Where is Justin? Kara: He said that he was going to walk around for a while. ::Justin walks in with the guys (Joey, JC, Lance and Chris):: Jocelyn: Did you call them too? Justin: Nope. They called me from the plane. Lance: We figured that you might want some support but it seems that you have plenty. Jocelyn: You can never have too much support. Justin: That's the truth. I found that out after the car accident. Chris: We've all been throgh a lot together. JC: That's for dang sure. We've all stuck by eachother through everything though. That's what friends are for. Jocelyn: I love you guys. ::starts crying:: ::Both Joey and Justin grab Jocelyn and hug her. She breaks down crying.:: Chris: Jocelyn, it's okay. Your dad is going to be okay. Jocelyn: You don't know that for sure. Joey: Yes I do. Jocelyn: How? Joey: That's what the doctor just told your mom. ::Jocelyn looks in and sees the doctor talking to her mom and then hugs Joey with a smile on her face.:: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Later that day, Jocelyn was sitting in her room (the guys and Britney had went out to eat... Jocelyn hadn't felt like going) and her mom walks in. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kathy: Jocelyn, I need to talk to you... Jocelyn: About what? Kathy: Well everything that has happened to you has got me thinking. It's made me realize how short life can be. How if can end without any forwarning at all. You really need to take advantage of life and not take it for granted. I guess what I'm really trying to say to you is that if you want to take your relationship with Justin to the next level, then I'm not going to discourage you from doing so. Jocelyn: Are you talking about us having sex? Kathy: Yeah... Jocelyn: Justin and I have talked about it but have decided that neither of us are ready yet. Kathy: That's fine. I just wanted to let you know that when you are ready... both of you... then it's okay with me. Jocelyn: Thank you mom. I love you. Kathy: I love you too Jocelyn. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn's dad got out of the hospital about a week and a half later. The doctors said that he was doing great and on his way to a full recovery. He just needed to take it easy for a while. The guys left a couple days after surgery to spend time with their family back in Orlando. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Justin, I have a favor to ask of you. Justin: What kind of favor? Jocelyn: Well... my school homecoming dance is this Saturday... Justin: Say no more. Jocelyn, will you go with me to your school's homecoming? Jocelyn: ::smiles:: Of course. Thanks baby! Justin: No problem. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn flew to meet with Tommy Hilfiger the next day (Thursday) to discuss her dress for the homecoming dance on Saturday. After a lot of talking and planning, Jocelyn decided on a dress. Tommy would have to custom make the dress for Jocelyn and would have it to her on Saturday morning. For the football game on Friday night, Jocelyn had chosen to wear a baby yellow spaghetti strap Tommy shirt with a pair of bright yellow capri pants and some strappy, yellow heels. Friday afternoon, on the way to the homecoming game, Jocelyn and Justin had a talk... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin: Oh crap! Jocelyn: What? Justin: I forgot about our one year anniversary. Jocelyn: I did too. It's no biggy. Justin: But I feel bad. Jocelyn: We had a lot on our minds. Don't worry about it. How do you think that I feel? I forgot about your 19th birthday. Justin: It's not a big deal, really. I guess that makes us even. Plus, I had no idea what to get you. You're hard to buy for because you already have everything. Jocelyn: How do you think I feel? You're not the easiest person to buy for either. Justin: We kind of have access to everything already. Jocelyn: Tell you what. Why don't we just forget about presents. Justin: Alright, but if I see something that I really want you to have, then I'm not going to hesitate to buy it. Jocelyn: Deal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When everyone at Jocelyn's school saw that she was there (finally off of crutches), they kept asking her to perform during half-time but she told them that she still couldn't dance (because of her ankle) and they totally understood. The night was fun but Jocelyn's school's basketball team lost their game. It wasn't much of a suprise for her, however. After the game, Jocelyn and Justin went back to her house and watched a couple of movies. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: I had a talk with my mom the other day. She basically told me that when you and I are ready to have sex, then we should because me dad's heartattack made her realize how short life is. She knows how much we love eachother and she knows that life is too short not to take advantage of it. Justin: I'm glad that you mom trusts you to make the right decision, but you know that I'm not ready to have sex yet. Jocelyn: I know... I'm not really either. Justin: I promise that when I am ready, you'll be the first to know. I love you Jocelyn. Jocelyn: Well will you sleep in here with me tonight? Justin: Of course I will. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They slept in eachother's arms that night. The next morning at about 11am, Jocelyn's mom came into her room and woke her up. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kathy: Jocelyn, your dress just got here and they want you to sign for it. Jocelyn: ::in a sleepy voice:: Okay, just a second. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn got up, went to the door and signed for the dress. Justin was still asleep in Jocelyn's room, so she went to try the dress on in her mom's room. The dress fit perfectly. Of course it was navy blue, red and white (Tommy colors). The top had tank straps with a boat neck. It came right under her chest, twisting around the back (revealing her stomach) and came back around the front at the waist. She had her mom come in and look at it. Her mom thought that it was really beautiful. The dance that night was from 9-12, so Jocelyn and Justin had planned on leaving at 7pm so that they could get something to eat first. They were goign to go to her favorite restaurant, El Mexico. When it was time to leave, Justin had on khakis and a baby blue Tommy shirt. Jocelyn walked into the living room for the first time with her dress on and Justin's mouth dropped. To him, she had never looked more beautiful. Jocelyn pigged out, as usual, when they were at El Mexico. For as skinny as she was, she sure ate a lot. Everyone was suprised to see that Jocelyn had shown up for the dance and was immediately asked to dance by about 20 guys. Justin too was asked to dance by a bunch of girls. They both told them maybe later and went off to dance together. It felt good to finally go to a school dance (she had never been to one before). Being there with Justin made it that much more special. About an hour later, she finally started dancing with other people. However, she soon excused herself to go to the restroom. On her way back, she was stopped by a fellow classmate by the name of Jeff. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff: Hey Jocelyn. Jocelyn: Oh hi. How are you? Jeff: I'm fine. You seem to be quite fine too. Jocelyn: Uh... thanks... I need to get going. Jeff: Why don't you come with me and we can party. Maybe even make a little party of our own. Jocelyn: No, I don't think so. ::starts to walk off:: Jeff: ::grabs her arm:: Listen #####! You will come with me even if I have to drag you kicking and screaming. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff starts forcing himself on Jocelyn and she tries to keep him away from her. Meanwhile, Justin had begun looking for her. When he finally saw this guy trying to force himself on her, he was furious and ran up to them. Justin grabbed Jeff and slammed him up against the wall. Getting loose from Justin, Jeff threw a punch but missed Justin because he had ducked. This made Justin even more mad and he in turn threw a punch that landed right on Jeff's face. The force of Justin's hit knocked Jeff on the ground. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin: Baby, are you okay? Jocelyn: Yeah. C'mon Justin, let's go. Justin: We don't have to actually leave. I don't think that he'll be back anytime soon. Jocelyn: Let's go dance then. Justin: Alright. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They danced to a few songs, including "I Do (Cherish You)" and Jocelyn's own "Baby One More Time". Justin and Jocleyn were definitely getting their grove on. :) A little later, the DJ came up to Jocelyn and asked her if she could perform a song for them. She agreed. Everyone figured that she would do one of her hits but to their suprise, Jocelyn and Justin came out and did the remix of "The First Night". Everyone absolutely loved it and it got them all hyped. The dance was over soon after and they headed back to the house. They went to bed soon after because Justin had a flight to catch at 5am the next morning. A few days passed and Valentine's Day was soon approaching. Jocelyn had planned on flying to Orlando on Valentine's Day to suprised Justin since he had been the one making the trips to see her lately. The arrangements were made and Jocelyn was on the plane at 2pm on Valentine's Day. When Jocelyn got to Orlando, she went by Joey's house (that he had recently bought) since she hadn't seen Justin's Mercedes in his driveway. She was happy to see that his Acura was in the drive. She quickly made her way to the door and rang the doorbell. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ::The door opens:: Joey: ::in a worried voice:: Jocelyn! What are you doing here? Jocelyn: Well that was an interesting welcome. I love you too. ::smiles:: I came to suprise Justin for Valentine's Day. I went by his house though and his Mercedes wasn't in the drive. Joey: There's a reason for that. Jocelyn: What are you talking about? Joey: His Mercedes is at the airport. He went to Wichita to suprise you. ::Jocelyn's mouth dropped and a tear slid down her face:: |
