| True Love Conquers All - Chapter 7-8 Jocelyn's brother, Josh picked them up from the airport in Wichita. Jocelyn introduced Josh to Justin and they hit it off right away. This was a good sign for Jocelyn because she knew that her brother would be one of them to worry about liking Justin, but what is there not to like?! She was sure that her whole family would take to Justin right away. Jocelyn borrowed Josh's truck and took Justin to a few of her friend's houses to "show him off". They absolutely could NOT believe that she was actually dating him and that they got to meet him. It was incredible. Jocelyn and Justin had some good conversations on the way to and from her friend's houses. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin: Jocelyn, you know that with the record deal is going to come other things. Jocelyn: Like what exactly? Justin: Well, you are getting the biggest part of it out of the way. But next you are going to have to start promoting your CD and touring and everything. Jocelyn: Yeah. I never really thought about that. Justin, I never dreamt of signing a record deal. I never dreamt of signing a modeling contract. And I especially never dreamt of meeting you guys. Justin: You probably never did think that it would happen, but the thing is that it has and now you are going to have to deal with it all and get yourself ready. I talked to the guys and when we go back on tour in March, we want you to open for us. Yes, we know that you won't have your CD out for a few more weeks, but this will be a GREAT way to promote it. What do you think?! Jocelyn: Are you asking me to come on tour with you guys?! Justin: Yeah! What do you think?! Jocelyn: Well, I know it's weird to be thinking of this right now, but what about school?! Justin: Oh, no, we don't want you to quit school or nothing like that. You can get a tutor or something. Maybe if you work with your school, then they will let you send in your homework and stuff and do school on the road. I bet they will if you let them know about everything. Jocelyn: Yeah, that might work, I will have to think about it. Justin: So what do you say? Jocelyn: I'll do it if I can work something out with school. Justin: That's great!! That also is my sick way of spending more time with you. Jocelyn: ::smiles:: I knew there had to be a catch! ::laughs:: Just kidding. Justin: ::laughs:: Well, if you are going to go on tour with us, then you need dancers and stuff, right?! Jocelyn: Yeah, I guess I could use a couple of my cousins or something. Justin: That might be good. Maybe just get two girls to be on the road with you and then have like more in your video. Jocelyn: Video?! Justin: You do know that when you put out a single you have to have a video right?! Jocelyn: Yeah, I guess I had just never really thought about it. Justin: Well, you are going to need an idea for the video and some dancers in the video. Jocelyn: I will call my cousins, Jennifer and Ashley and see if they can go on tour with me. Jennifer is 19 and Ashley is 18. See, here's a picture. Justin: Yeah, that would be cool. Jocelyn: I have an idea!! Justin: What?! Jocelyn: You guys can be in the video. Do you think that would be alright? Justin: I don't know, that would be cool actually. We can talk to the guys when we get back to Orlando. Jocelyn: Okay, sounds good. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin and Jocelyn had an awesome night. They visited Shanna, Kara, Anna and Hannah's houses. Then they went back to Jocelyn's house to visit with her parents and grandparents. Jocelyn called Jennifer and Ashley and asked them about touring with her. They immediately agreed but were really worried about their college courses that they were taking. Jocelyn told them what Justin had told her about taking the courses through the mail and they agreed. They were really excited about it. The only catch would be that they would have to leave for Orlando to practice the dances within two days because Jocelyn was only staying a couple weeks. Three weeks tops. She needed to get back to her family and schooling for at least a week before she started touring. This would be one of the most exciting things in her life, yet it would probably be one of the most stressful. As Jocelyn had expected, Justin hit it off great with her parents. Normally, her dad wouldn't have heard of her even dating a guy at all, but Jocelyn had had a talk with her dad before she even went to Orlando and he told her that he would stand behind her 100% as long as she used her head and didn't do anything stupid. They agreed and for the first time in her life, she really felt that her dad understood her. It was a great feeling. Jocelyn had packed TONS of her clothes and stuff that she thought that she would need. Even though it would only be like a 3 month tour, she felt like she was packing her whole bedroom. It was almost 1am when they finally got to sleep. Justin took her brother's room (Josh) and Josh slept on the bottom bunk of her futon bunk bed. The next morning was full of goodbyes and tears. Jocelyn told her parents that she would promise to get a cellphone and call them everyday. To Jocelyn's suprise, her cousin Ashley had been able to get off work and out of school sooner then had first thought and was leaving with them. Jennifer had promised to be there within two days. They said their final goodbyes and Justin, Jocelyn and Ashley got on the plane and headed back to Orlando. When they got to Orlando, Jocelyn had decided to get a small apartment for the next couple of weeks before they left on tour. This way, Jocelyn wouldn't have to have Ashley and Jennifer move into Justin's house too. After all, Lynn already had too many people living in her house. Justin objected to this arrangement but finally gave in after hours of arguing. They decided to stay with Justin until Jennifer came in town and could help pick out an apartment. A couple of days later, Jocelyn's cousin, Jennifer arrived in Orlando and the second that they got there, they started looking for a temporary apartment. This was the most time that she had spent with her cousins and she thoroughly enjoyed it. They found a nice apartment and got settled in. The next night, Jocelyn got Jennifer, Ashley, the guys and Lynn together for a small meeting. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Okay you guys, I had a dream last night and I want to use it in my video for "Baby One More Time". Lynn: What is it? Jocelyn: I thought that we could make it take place in a school with all the dancing and everything. Like you were really bored and just got up and started dancing. Kind of a simple idea, but I REALLY like it. JC: Well, it sounds good and if that is what you want then that is what you should do. This should be all about you and NO ONE else. That's what you are going to have to concentrate on if you can't, then you aren't going to work in this business, but I think that you can do that and I KNOW that you will make it big! Jocelyn: Thanks JC. That's great advice and I know that some people in this business let too many people run all over them and I DON'T want to be like that. JC: That is definitely the attitude to have and I really can't wait until this video comes out. Jocelyn: Oh, that's another thing that I want to ask you all. Lynn: What's that?! Jocelyn: I was wondering if you guys would be some of the dancers in my video. I would really be honored to have you all in it. Joey: Well, personally, I wouldn't mind doing it. What about the rest of you guys?! JC: No, I would be happy to do it. Lance: Me too. Chris: Sure. Justin: I would love to. Jocelyn: That's great you guys! Thank you SOO much! I love ya'll! Lynn: Trust me, we all feel the same way about you Jocelyn. You are like a daughter to me. I mean, I have all these guys running around and I need a daughter. Jocelyn: Well, I am honored that you think of me like that. Joey: So what parts do you want us to play in the video?! Jocelyn: Well, I was thinking that the four of you ::points to Joey, JC, Lance and Chris:: could dance around when we have the big dancing scenes and then Justin could be sitting on the bleachers in my slow part of the song about 3/4 of the way through. You know which part I am talking about? Lance: Yeah, that sounds good to me. Jocelyn: Oh man, sorry you guys. I forgot about you. (Talking to Jennifer and Ashley) Ashley: That's okay. We are used to it. Just kidding. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next day started early. Jocelyn headed to the studio to record "Baby One More Time". Since this was her first song ever recording in a studio, she messed up a few times but they stuck with her on it and knew that she was nervous. About the 4th time, Jocelyn finally calmed herself down and did it perfect. They called it a wrap and then headed to the apartment to get Jennifer and Ashley up, then took them all to Justin's house where they Jocelyn was going to be teaching everyone the dance steps. Everyone but Justin, that is, because he wouldn't actually be doing any dancing in the video. Justin would be playing a small, but very important role in the video. The danced for a couple hours and then Lynn brought out some lunch for all of them. They sat down and had a nice, short lunch but then headed straight back to practicing. All of them picked up the dance steps rather quickly and began to perfect them. At about 3pm, when everyone had pretty much got the dances down, they decided to take a sit around and just chill for a while. Jocelyn was SOO happy about all this that she decided to head back to the studio and record one more song before the day was over. Justin decided to go with her since he didn't want her to go alone, plus he wanted to spend some time alone with her, which was fine with Jocelyn. Jocelyn had finally got "Daydreamin'" recorded and they headed back to Justin's house. When they got back to the house, Joey and Ashley were missing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Where did Joey and Ashley go?! JC: They decided to go get something to eat. Jennifer: Those too got really close when she first got here. Jocelyn: But hey Jenn, isn't Ashley still dating Ron?! Jennifer: Yeah. I tried to tell her before we came here that she needed to put that relationship on hold or something because you never know what will happen down here but she wouldn't listen to me. Jocelyn: Yeah, she's going to end up hurting Ron if she doesn't be careful. Jennifer: I know, but it's her life and I can't tell her what to do. Jocelyn: Nope, you can't. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next couple of days were full of dancing and recording. Jocelyn recorded 5 songs in 2 days and they were really proud of her. She had gotten the hang out it and started messing up less, which helped the process go a lot faster. The girls were sure enjoying their time in Orlando. As would have thought, Joey and Ashley started getting a lot closer and quite unexpectedly, JC and Jennifer started getting kinda close. It looked like Jocelyn started something when she decided two of her prettiest cousins to travel with an all guy group. She was just asking for trouble. By the end of the week, Jocelyn had recorded all of the songs needed for her album. All but 1 had been written herself. The one song had come from a brillant song writer who was waiting for a singer to come along that could sing this song. He thought that Jocelyn was the perfect one for the job and as turns out, the rest of the "clan" liked it too. ["Clan" refers to Justin, Joey, JC, Lance, Chris, Lynn, Ashley and Jennifer).] Jocelyn had also been looking for a director to direct her video, but could not seem to find anyone that would work with her idea. Unexpectedly, Jocelyn had offered to direct the video herself and they figured that since this girl had seemed to be able to do everything else, they figured "what the heck". Jocelyn was nervous about this but she figured that this video would not come out the way that she would like it to if she didn't do it herself. So it was settled, Monday would be spent taping the video. |
