| True Love Conquers All - Chapter 15-16 The next month was really long. Jocelyn hadn't been away from Justin for this long since they started dating in February. One day, while Jocelyn was talking to Justin on the phone, she had a really good idea and immediately felt like she should act on it. Her next call was to Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fred: This is Fred. Jocelyn: Hey Fred, this is Jocelyn Langlois. I just had this idea and thought that I would run it past you and see what you thought. Fred: Okay, shoot! Jocelyn: I was thinking that it might be kind of cool if we did a couple of shows together. It would be really neat to fuse the two types of music together. I don't know. It might be a bad idea, but it was just an idea and I thought that it wouldn't hurt to run it past you. Fred: No, I'm glad that you did ask because I think that it's a really good idea. I mean, normally I wouldn't even consider doing something with another pop artist but I am really impressed with your work. I mean, you wrote all the songs on your album, you co-produced your album, and you directed your own video. It's truly impressing! Jocelyn: Thanks Fred, that means a lot! Fred: Tell you what, I'll see what I can do and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Jocelyn: Okay, thanks Fred! Fred: No problem! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Three hours later, Jocelyn received a call back from Fred saying that they could work a 5 show tour into their schedule. Jocelyn was SOO hyped about this. She called the guys and told them about it. They were really happy for her for the most part, but Justin seemed kind of concerned about her being out on the road with that particular group of guys. He didn't have anything against Limp Bizkit, but he knew how they were out on tour and he didn't exactly think that she needed to be around that but he knew that she could take care of herself. The plan of Jocelyn going back to school for the end of her freshman year did not work out because as soon as she was finished with the 98 degrees tour, she went straight to start the tour with Limp Bizkit. The guys were exactly how she had pictured them and were really supportive. Jocelyn was really nervous at the first how because she was afraid of how the crowd would react to her, but Fred was nice enough to go out on stage before Jocelyn went out and talk to the crowd about what was going on. The crowd ended up being really great to her. The next day, Fred and Jocelyn got a call from MTV wanting to find out what was up with one of the most unlikely tours of the year. MTV sent a camera crew out later that day to sit down with Fred and Jocelyn. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John: So who's idea was it to put together this tour? Fred: Actually, it was Jocelyn's. She just called me up one day out of the blue and ran the idea past me. I checked out schedule and was able to work 5 concert dates in and it was set. John: What gave you this idea Jocelyn? Jocelyn: Well, first of all, I am a huge fan of Limp Bizkit and I just thought that it would be really neat if we could finally merge the two types of music, so I called Fred. John: This is definitely one of the most unlikely clashes of music that we've seen in a long time. What made you decide to do this Fred? Fred: Well, you have to understand that normally, I wouldn't do this with a pop artist because I'm not a huge fan of pop music but I totally respect everything that Jocelyn is doing and I actually like her music. She's also a great person. John: Well, as you guys know, the MTV Movie Awards are in a few weeks and I have been told to ask you if Limp Bizkit and Jocelyn would like to present an award. Jocelyn: I'm up for it. How about you Fred? Fred: Sure. What the hell. John: Okay, well thanks for the interview and we'll see you in a few weeks at the awards show. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Later that afternoon, Jocelyn called Justin and asked if he would go with her to the movie awards and of course he said yes. How could he turn down the chance to spend time with her? By the end of the tour, Jocelyn had become really good friends with Limp Bizkit, especially Fred. They had agreed to keep in touch and even hang out once in a while. As soon as Jocelyn was finished with the tour, she headed back home to Wichita. She figured that since she had the money, it would be nice to buy a car. One day, while at home, Jocelyn went out car shopping with her dad. She ended up special ordering a 1999 Dodge Durango. It was blue and was loaded. Meanwhile, it was Jocelyn's 15th birthday. She knew that Justin couldn't be with her on her birthday because they had a show that night, but she knew that he would some how make up for it. Later that day, Jocelyn received 3 dozen roses from Justin with a card that said... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY! I'M SORRY THAT I COULDN'T BE THERE WITH YOU, BUT I PROMISE THAT I WILL MAKE IT UP TO YOU! I LOVE YOU! JUSTIN -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin was absolutely the sweetest guy that Jocelyn had ever met! Jocelyn got her new car in about a week later and she absolutely loved it! She was definitely the person to haul around all of her friends for a while and she took advantage of having the time to spend with her friends. One night she took Kara, Shanna, and Anna to the ice skating rink for a girls night out. While they were at the ice rink, Jocelyn ran into Leanna, a girl that she was not too fond of. Leanna had always seemed to get better things than Jocelyn. For instance, she got better tickets to the first 'N Sync concert that Jocelyn went to and she met them long before Jocelyn did. She always seemed to be able to rub all this in Jocelyn's face and she definitely enjoyed it. When Leanna stopped to talk to Jocelyn, she figured that she could somehow settle the score without being too rude. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leanna: Hey Jocelyn! How are you doing? Jocelyn: I'm doing pretty good, actually, how has life been in the little town of Haysville? Leanna: Pretty good, but not as good as it had been for you, I would suspect. Jocelyn: Nope, probably not. Leanna: You know, I'm really suprised that you haven't tried to hook up with one of the guys from 'N Sync yet. Jocelyn: Didn't you see MTV News 1515? Leanna: I heard about you hitting Nick Carter but that was it. Why? Jocelyn: I am dating one of the guys from 'N Sync. Leanna: You are? Which one? Jocelyn: Justin. He's the sweetest guy that I have ever met! Leanna: Well my choice would have been JC. Jocelyn: My cousin is dating him. Leanna: Wow! How about Joey then? Jocelyn: My other cousin is dating him. Justin is who my heart belongs to anyways. See, I have his class ring. Leanna: Wow! Well good luck. I have to go. Jocelyn: Yeah, me too. ::Leanna walks off.:: Jocelyn: Gosh I can't stand her! Kara: Me either! Anna: She did seem annoying! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That night Jocelyn ran into a few other people that she knew and had a nice time talking to them. She even got stopped to sign a few autographs. It was great to spend some time in her hometown again. Jocelyn was scheduled to leave Wichita and meet up with the guys on tour in two days and spend about a month with them before she headed out on her own tour. Instead of leaving in two days, however, Jocelyn decided to leave a day early and catch them off gaurd. The next day was again a tearful day leaving her family and friends but it was much better than last time and Jocelyn figured that it would get better over time. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn's plane landed in Camden at around 2pm and Jocelyn was immediately swarmed by people wanting autographs. She definitely had not gotten use to this yet. After she was able to get away from the crowd, Jocelyn caught a cab and headed to the venue where the guys were playing. Jocelyn was able to get past security because she had a pass from when she was on tour with them. Once by security, Jocelyn headed to the cafeteria area where she ran into Steven (Joey's brother). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Steven: Hey girl! Jocelyn: Hey! ::They hug:: Steven: What are you doing here? I thought that you weren't suppose to be here until tomorrow. Jocelyn: Well I wasn't. It's a suprise, so don't tell anyone, okay? Steven: I won't. Jocelyn: I need you to do something else for me too. Steven: What's that? Jocelyn: I need you to get me a ticket to the concert. I have the backstage pass, but I just don't have a ticket. Steven: Yeah, I can do that, no problem. So when are you going to tell them that you're here? Jocelyn: I'll be on the bus after the show. Steven: You're a slick one, you know? Jocelyn: I know! ::smiles:: Oh no! Here comes Lance. I gotta go! Steven: Bye! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Later that afternoon, Jocelyn caught up with Steven again and got the ticket. Then she went to the show. While in her seat before the show, she was confronted by 3 girls that were sitting beside her. Their names were Jazmyn, Kayla and Celeste. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Celeste: Hey, arne't you Jocelyn Langlois? Jocelyn: Yeah. Kayla: Oh my god! What are you doing here? Jocelyn: I just came to suprise 'N Sync. Jazmyn: Hey, aren't you dating Justin? Jocelyn: Yeah. Jazmyn: That is SOO cool! I bet that you are on cloud nine to be dating him, huh? Jocelyn: Yeah, actually I am, but he's just a normal guy. Believe me. Celeste: Well since we're here, can we have your autograph? Kayla: And a picture! Jocelyn: Sure! No problem! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn left the show about 10 minutes before it was over and headed to the bus. About 10 minutes after she got on the bus, the guys were there. They were really shocked and really happy! Justin ran up to Jocelyn to give her a hug but she pushed him away. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin: Why did you do that? Jocelyn: No offense or anything, but you stink! Justin: Oh sorry. I'll go clean up and I'll be right back! Save me that hug! Jocelyn: You got it! JC: So what are you doing here already? Jocelyn: I just thought that I would suprise you! I hope that it's okay. JC: Of course it's okay! I was just wondering. Give me a hug! Jocelyn: Uh no! You all are going to have to clean up before I give any of you a hug! Lance: You're so mean to us! Jocelyn: I know! ::smiles:: ::Justin walks back out, gives Jocelyn a hug and kisses her:: Jocelyn: Well that was a nice welcome! Justin: I just missed you soo much! Jocelyn: I missed you too! ::They kiss:: Chris: You two make me sick! Joey: Oh you're just jealous Chris! Chris: So what! ::smiles:: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- They all ended up sitting and talking for about 2 hours, until they got settled in the hotel. The next day they all headed to Philidelphia, Chris' hometown to have a show. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joey: So it must be nice being able to have some time off. Jocelyn: Yeah, but I have a feeling that it's going to be really hectic when the tour starts. Lance: Oh believe me, it will! Jocelyn: You know, it's really exciting yet I'm kind of worried that I'm going to get worn out. JC: You probably will, but you just got to stick with it and give it your all. Chris: We all know that you can do it and we're always here for you if you have trouble. Jocelyn: Thanks guys. What did I ever do to deserve your love and support? Lance: What do you do? You should be wondering what we did. We all know that we can talk to you about anything and it's great to have a female point of view on things. JC: I think that we all agree with that. ::Justin walks in:: Justin: Hey baby, you have a telephone call. Jocelyn: Who is it? Justin: It's Britney. ::Jocelyn went to the front and picked up the phone:: Jocelyn: Hey girl, what's up? Britney: Oh nothing. I hadn't talked to you in a while and I just thought that I would call. Jocelyn: Well I'm glad that you did. Hey, you sound down, what's wrong? Britney: You always know when something is bugging me. Jocelyn: Yup! So what is it? Britney: Oh, I don't know. I think that all this touring is getting to me. I mean, it's great and all but I just miss my normal life. Not being able to date, I think, is the main thing. Jocelyn: So you need a boyfriend. That's what you're saying. Britney: Yeah, I guess it is. Jocelyn: Well do you have any time off any time soon? Britney: Well I have all next week off. Jocelyn: Well would you be up for a blind date if it's okay with him? Britney: Well who's him? Jocelyn: My brother. His name is Josh and he's 21. Britney: Yeah, sure. Jocelyn: Okay, let me call him and I'll call you back, okay? Britney: Okay, thanks Jocelyn. Jocelyn: No problem girl! ::Jocelyn hung up the phone and called her brother:: Jocelyn: Hey Josh! Josh: Oh hey Jocelyn, what's up? Jocelyn: Well I was just wondering if you would be up for a blind date next week? Josh: Sure, who? Jocelyn: Well I can't tell you that or it wouldn't be a blind date now would it? Josh: Well I guess not. Jocelyn: Let me tell you that you WILL like her. You know her. Well not personally. Josh: What are you talking about? Is it a celebrity? Jocelyn: I can't say but you just got to trust me! Josh: Okay, so when is our date? Jocelyn: Your date is Wednesday night. Sound good? Josh: Sounds good. Jocelyn: Well, I got to go, but I will talk to you later, okay? Josh: Okay, thanks Jocelyn! Jocelyn: Bye. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After Jocelyn got off the phone with Josh, she called Britney back and told her to fly in to Wichita Wednesday morning, rent a car and then go to Jocelyn's house and meet Josh. Britney would be staying at Jocelyn's grandparent's house for as long as she decided to stay. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ::Justin walks in:: Justin: So what did Britney want? Jocelyn: She just wanted to talk, but I set her up on a blind date. Justin: With who? Jocelyn: My brother. Justin: Hey, good idea. I never thought of that but that does see like a good match. Jocelyn: So what have you guys been doing without me? Justin: Just talking about you. You know. ::smiles:: Jocelyn: So what's on the agenda today? Justin: I don't know. We really didn't have anything planned. What do you want to do? Jocelyn: How about shopping? See if we could sneak out for a little bit. Justin: Well let's go see what the guys say. ::They walk to the back:: Jocelyn: Hey, are you guys up for some shopping when we get to Philidelphia? Chris: I want to spend some time with my family, but you all should go. Lance: I'll go. Joey: Me too. JC: Sure. Jocelyn: Cool. Let's see how long it is before someone spots us. Justin: No kidding. I bet we aren't there 5 minutes before someone notices us. Oh well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After they arrived in Philidelphia, they took one of the tour mini vans and Jocelyn drove to the nearest shopping mall. They were right because as soon as they arrived at the mall, about 10 fans rushed them. Luckily they had brought Lonnie (one of 'N Sync's bodygaurds) with them who kept all of the fans back so that they could shop. They shopped at various stores including: The Gap, Eddie Bauer, Tommy Hilfiger, the Buckle and Structure. Jocelyn ended up purchasing a few new outfist, including a couple that she would be wearing to the 1999 MTV Movie Awards. The guys also bought a few things. Once back at the hotel, Jocelyn was suprised to find that they had been scheming this whole time to get Jocelyn out of the hotel to set up a suprise birthday party. Jocelyn was soo suprised and she was crying tears of joy. Jocelyn's firts present was from Steven (Joey's brother). He had prepared a video for her containing everything that she had done with them while on tour (the performances, the making of the video, scenes from the tour bus and much more). The second present was from all five of the guys. It was a bracelet. Silver, of course. (Jocelyn hated gold.) It had each of their birthstones (Jocelyn and Lance: May, Justin and Joey: January, Chris: October, JC: August) on it with 3 diamonds in between each. The final present came from Justin. He had gotten Jocelyn a necklace like the bracelet but it had a diamond heart in the middle with a diamond on each side and their birthstones on each side of that. Jocelyn was overwhelmed by all the gifts that she had received and started crying. (Wouldn't you be crying too if you received these presents?) The rest of the night was spent partying and having a great time. This was definitely a birthday to remember and Jocelyn made sure that she took plenty of pictures. That night, both Jocelyn and Justin fell asleep in Justin's bed. (No, nothing happened! Just because people sleep in the same bed doesn't mean that anything has to happen.) The next week and a half was full of touring and chilling and with the guys. Josh and Britney ended up having their date and hit it off quite well. Britney flew in Wednesday and stayed until Sunday morning. The whole time that she was there, she stayed at Jocelyn's grandmother's house. She was a really sweet lady and was more than willing to let Britney stay at her house. |
