| True Love Conquers All - Chapter 19-20 They left for Seattle, Washington on August 17 so that they could get the arena set up and see if they were going to have to change anything. The bus ride was a really long one and Jocelyn had time to catch up on some of the internet surfing. She hadn't talked to her internet friends in a long time and there were a couple that she wrote to telling them about everything. She also called to get a private URL to make an official webpage. The address would be www.jocelynlanglois.com. Since she had some previous experience using HTML and creating webpages, she decided to design and maintain her own official webpage. When they arrived in Seattle, she already had it partly up. Seattle was definitely a beautiful city. The arena had to be set up when they got there, so she took Joseph, Chris, Jennifer and Ashley out shopping. It wasn't long after they got to the mall that people started to recognize her. She was rushed for autographs and could not continue with the shopping so she had Chris use the cellphone and call Lonnie, her bodyguard, so that they could continue shopping. When Lonnie got there, he was able to keep everyone back so that they could shop. They spent about 3 hours at the mall, wandering around and killing time. Then they headed to the hotel. The couple days were spent rehearsing, doing sound check and just chilling. By the night of the concert, Jocelyn was unbelievably nervous and they could not calm her down for anything. She kept going on about how something was going to go wrong and how she was going to get a bad reaction from the audience. None of the dancers could get her calmed down and neither could the guys ('N Sync) when they called them. They then decided to call Britney and Britney was finally able to calm her down because Jocelyn knew that Britney had been through the same exact thing that she was going through now. After she was calmed down, they all got together (Christina Aguilera, the dancers, the crew and Jocelyn) to hug and pray for a good car show. When it was time, Jocelyn and the dancers ran on stage and started out with "Daydreamin'". She then talked to the audience. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: What's up Seattle?! ::screams:: Jocelyn: Well I'd just like to thank each and everyone of you for being here tonight. As you probably know, this is my first concert on the tour so I apologize for any technecalities that we have tonight! So are ya'll ready to party?! ::screams:: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next song was "The First Night" followed by "Have You Ever" where she sat down and played the guitar. SHe then did a medley of 98 Degrees' "I Do (Cherish You)", KoRn's "Freak On A Leash", 'N Sync's "I Want You Back" and Limp Bizkit's "Nookie". While she was doing "Angel of Mine", they put the harness on her and she "flew" over the audience. Next, Jocelyn became "grounded" again and performed "Sometimes". She slowed things down after that and did her most prized song (not written before the release of her album. It was about Justin.) "That First Step Into My Life". It was a great ballad that showed off her singing ability. After that, she performed "Genie In A Bottle". As the finale, she sang "Baby One More Time". After the show was over, she ran around the arena on the platform that they had put up all the way around the arena. She stopped to say "hi" to everyone as she made her way around the large arena. When she was done, she waved goodbye and ran to the bus. They were on their way to Reno, Nevada. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Reno, Nevada and Sacramento, California shows went good. The only thing that went wrong was in Reno, when she was caught in the air on the harness for about 2 minutes longer than planned. Other than that, everything was going fine. Jocelyn had decided that she was going to go online and pick a few people that were going to her concerts and set it up so that they would get backstage passes. This would be an easy was for her to get closer to her fans. On August 26, Jocelyn went to the Californian beach while her crew went to LA to set up for the next show. Jocelyn had a photo shoot scheduled on the beach that day and she was suppose to try on various swimsuits for the Tommy Hilfiger catalog. They were also going to be using some pictures for the Teen People magazine cover. The shoot took about 4 hours and then she was on her way to LA. The next day, Jocelyn came down with a terrible cold. Everyone tried to get her to stay in bed all day and rest but Jocelyn insisted on attending rehearsal and then resting. When show time came, she was still sick. However, jocelyn did not cancel the show or even consider cancelling the show because she knew that the show must go on no matter what. As soon as she finished the first song, she stopped and told everyone that she had not been feeling well the past couple of days but she would try to entertain them to the best of her abilities. They understood and ended up having a great time despite her illness. After the LA concert, they headed to Phoenix, Arizona. After Jocelyn ran offstage in Phoenix, she ran to the limo waiting to take her to the airport. She would be world premiering her new video for "Daydreamin'" on TRL the next day in New York. Jocelyn was woken up the next morning at the hotel in New York by someone knocking on the door. She answered the door and it was Britney and Josh (Jocelyn's brother). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Hey! What are you guys doing here? Britney: Josh had the day off and so did I so we decided that we'd come up here and see you. Justin told us what hotel you were staying at. Josh: I wanted to see Britney again and also wanted to spend some time with you, so I thought that I would set this up. Jocelyn: Well I'm glad you did. I missed you two. How long do you guys have off? Josh: I have to go back to work Thursday so I have to leave tomorrow. Britney: I don't have to be back until Sunday. Jocelyn: Well I have to leave right after I go on TRL so why don't you two fly to Denver with me today and then Josh can leave tomorrow night and Britney can leave Sunday. Sound good? Britney: Yeah, but are you sure that you'll be able to put up with me for that long? Jocelyn: Of course. And if not, I can put you on a plane and send you back to Louisiana! ::laughs:: Britney: ::laughs:: Okay, I'll stay! ::smiles:: Josh: Me too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At 3:30 pm, they headed to the MTV studio. Carson didn't have Jocelyn out, however until about 4:15. She came out and talked about the video, they premiered it and then talked about it some more. After that, they jumped into the limo that was waiting for them and got ont he plane to Denver. They arrived in Denver at 5:00 (because of the time change). They took a cab to the venue so that Jocelyn could show them around. That night they all went out to a club and danced until about 2 am. The next day was full of rehearsing and other stuff. Josh had to fly back to Wichita that night. Britney was sad to see him go. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: So what's up with you and my brother? Britney: I don't know exactly but he's an amazing guy and I really like him. I'm glad that you set us up! Jocelyn: It's the least that I could do. I would think that it would be realyl hard not having a boyfriend while out on tour. I don't really know from first hand because Justin and I started dating before my career even started. I dont' know what I would do without him. Britney: You are sure lucky to have Justin because it is really hard. I promise. I just wish that there was some way that Josh and I could spend some more time together and get to know each other better. Jocelyn: Maybe there is. Britney: What are you talking about? Jocelyn: Well is there anything Josh could do for you? I mean... could he work for you or something? Britney: Well... yeah... I could probably find something for him to do. Jocelyn: Well, wouldn't that be good.... him being on tour with you and all? Britney: I would love that but he can't leave his job. You and I both know that. Jocelyn: Well that's when you get him a job. That way he could tour with you and get paid too. Britney: That might just work Jocelyn. Thanks! Jocelyn: No problem. Anything to finally get my brother a girlfriend! ::laughs:: Britney: ::laughs:: You are soo mean to your brother. Jocelyn: I know. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Britney stayed for the Denver concert and then went with Jocelyn to tape the Rosie O'Donnell show on Friday. Since Britney didn't have to leave for another couple of days and Jocelyn had to tape Jay Leno on Sunday, they stayed in New York and went shopping. Britney new some great stores in NY and got Jocelyn some awesome clothes. Britney left on Sunday, promising to do whatever she could to get Josh on tour with her. That night, Jocelyn was on the Jay Leno show. She performed "Baby One More Time" and "Daydreamin'" and talked about her current tour. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once again, Jocelyn was playing to a sold out crowd in her hometown. This time the fans were for her and not 'N Sync. Not only did Jocelyn sell out the Coliseum for the 6th but she had also sold it out for the 7th. Everyone wanted to see their hometown girl perform. After the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Dallas, Texas shows, Jocelyn made another appearance on TRL. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next 19 shows went just as great, if not better, than the first ones. Jocelyn was definitely worn out but was happy that her tour was going so great. She felt like she was "sitting on top of the world" and figured that nothing could go wrong now. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Jocelyn got onto the bus after her last concert of the tour, she saw that the light on her answering machine was flashing indicating that she had a message. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jennifer: I wonder who's leaving you a message this time. ::Jocelyn pushes button and the message starts playing:: Justin: Hey girl, it's me, Justin. I dont' know why I am doing this but I've been thinking a lot lately and I think that we need to part ways for a while. I can't explain this anymore. ::starts singing:: It's the hardest thing I'll ever have to do, to turn around and walk away, pretending I don't love you. ::message stops:: Ashley: Oh my gosh girl, are you alright? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn was soo confused and angry that she couldn't talk and just started crying. Jennifer and Ashley tried to comfort her, but nothing seemed to work. All the way back to Wichita, Jocelyn was crying. She couldn't believe this. Everything seemed perfect with their relationship. She couldn't think of what would make Justin do something like this. Jocelyn ended up crying herself to sleep on the bus that night. She was woken up the next day by Ashley telling her that they were home. She went straight to her room, leaving Jennifer and Ashley to tell her parents what had happened. Jocelyn tried to call Justin a couple of times to get an explanation but there was no answer either time. Desperate to get an explanation, Jocelyn called Joey's cellphone. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joey: Hello? Jocelyn: Joey? It's me. ::starts crying:: Joey: Jocelyn, are you okay? Jocelyn: My boyfriend just broke up with me, what do you think? Joey: Okay, that was a stupid question, I'm sorry. Jocelyn: Joey, just tell me that you can provide some reasoning because I am majorly confused. Joey: Jocelyn, I would explain it to you if I could, you know I would, but I truthfully do not know why he did it. He will not answer any of us and give us a reason. I'm sorry. Jocelyn: Alright. I just wish that I knew why! I thought that everything was fine. Why Joey, why? Joey: I wish I knew, Jocelyn. Jocelyn: Me too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next few weeks were spent going to school, appearing on different shows and thinking about Justin. She still had not been able to get ahold of him. He wouldn't return her pages or telephone calls. She did, however, talk to the rest of the guys. They were all a little upset with Justin for not telling her why he had broken their relationship off and had promised Jocelyn that they would try to talk to him and get him to explain it to her. On November 13th, Jocelyn finally received a call from Justin. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin: Jocelyn, can we talk? Jocelyn: Of course. Justin: Well I just wanted to apologize for ending our relationship like I did. I shouldn't have left a message but I knew that if I actually talked to you, then I wouldn't be able to do it. Jocelyn: But why did you do it? Justin: To tell you the truth, I do not know. I truthfully do not know and I've felt like crap for the past three weeks. Jocelyn: I just don't understand you Justin. Justin: I don't understand me either. Do you think that we could restart our relationship? Jocelyn: I don't know if I can do that right now. Justin, you gave me the past three weeks to think about everything and I've been thinking. I'm only 15 years old and you are the only real relationship that I've ever had. How do I know that this is exactly what I want? Justin: What are you saying Jocelyn? Jocelyn: I'm saying that maybe we should see other people. Justin: No Jocelyn. Think about what you're doing here. Jocelyn: I know what I'm doing. I'm not saying that we'll never be back together again but I just think that I need to know my options, you know? Justin: Yeah, I guess that I understand. Jocelyn: So can we be friends for now? Justin: Of course. We will always be best friends. I promise. Jocelyn: Thank you Justin. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The next three weeks for Jocelyn was spent recording for her sophomore album and making her third video for the single, "Angel of Mine", which she had world premiered on TRL. Her second tour would be a world tour and was set to start in January 2000. |
