| True Love Conquers All - Chapter 21-22 On December 8th, while Jocelyn was sitting in Spanish II class, her mom came to her class and asked if she could talk to her. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kathy: Jocelyn, I have some bad news. Jocelyn: What? What happened? Kathy: Justin's been in a car accident. Jocelyn: What? No! Is he okay? Kathy: He's been in and out of consciousness. I figured that you would want to fly down there as soon as possible so I called the airport and your plane leaves in a hour and a half so get your things and go. Jocelyn: Thanks mom! I love you. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn walked back into the classroom to get her books. By this time, she was crying. Her friend, Jennifer, asked her if she was alright. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Not really. Jennifer: What happened? Jocelyn: Justin was in an accident. I'm going to Orlando right now. Jennifer: I hope he's okay. Jocelyn: Me too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The flight to Orlando seemed to take forever. Jocelyn had ended up crying soo much that she couldn't cry anymore, but when she saw Justin lying soo helplessly in the bed, she couldn't help herself and the tears flowed again. Justin was actually unconscious when she got there. Jocelyn grabbed his hand and started to pray. Soon after, the rest of the guys walked in. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Please tell me that he's going to be alright. Joey: I'm not sure how things are going right now Jocelyn. All we can do is pray. Jocelyn: So what happened exactly? Chris: Justin was actually on his way to the airport. He was going to suprise you by showing up at your house. He was hit by a drunk driver. Jocelyn: It's all my fault. He shouldn't have been coming to my house. He's always trying to suprise me. I could have stopped him. JC: Now you know that he would have came anyways. It's not your fault. I promise. Lance: JC's right. It's not your fault. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About 20 minutes later, while Jocelyn was holding Justin's hand, she felt him clinch her hand and his eyes opened. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Justin? Justin: Jocelyn, is that you? Jocelyn: Yeah. Justin: What happened? Jocelyn: You were in a car accident. Justin: How's my Mercedes? Jocelyn: Who cares about your Mercedes! The only thing that matters is that you're alright. Joey: Jocelyn's right. Your Mercedes shouldn't matter right now. Justin: Wait... what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be in school? Jocelyn: There ya go! Always thinking about everyone else. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About an hour later, after the guys went to get something to eat, Jocelyn and Justin were alone to talk. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Justin, I can't do this anymore. Justin: Do what? Jocelyn: The whole "dating other people" thing. I can't live without you by my side and it took this accident to make me realize that. Justin: Jocelyn, you have to understand that I never stopped loving you and I never will. Jocelyn: I know. I love you soo much that it hurts. Justin: I love you too Jocelyn. So does this mean that we're together again? Jocelyn: Most definitely! ::kisses Justin:: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin ended up getting out of the hospital about a week later. Jocelyn was by his side the whole time and went home with him to keep an eye on him. The doctor told him that he couldn't do any strenuous work for about a two weeks. That meant no dancing and no singing. By the time that Justin was feeling well enough for Jocelyn to leave, her school was out for Christmas break so she decided to just stay. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: So what are we going to be doing for Christmas this year? Justin: I don't know. What do you want to do? Jocelyn: I want to spend time with you, my family, your family and the guys. I'm kind of torn. Justin: Well I remember you saying that you always go to your grandparent's house on Christmas Eve. So how about we fly to Wichita on Christmas Eve, spend it at your grandparent's house, open presents at your house on Christmas morning, then go to your other grandparent's house for Christmas day. We can leave there at about 3 or 4 and spend the rest of the day down here with my family and the guys. Sound good? Jocelyn: Sounds great. I get to show you off to my family! I've been waiting for this for a while. Justin: Why would you want to show me off? I'm a big dork! Jocelyn: I know, but I love my big dork. ::They kiss:: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin and Jocelyn were out on their daily jog a couple of days before Christmas when Jocelyn somehow stepped into a hole and turned her ankle wrong, falling on the ground. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin: Baby, are you alright? Jocelyn: I don't know. It hurts REALLY bad and I can't move it at all. Justin: Alright, let's get you to the doctor. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin called Lynn to come pick them up so that she could get her ankle examined by a doctor. The doctor told her that it was in fact broken which is not exactly what she wanted to hear. They gave her a cast and some crutches and told her to take it easy for a while. Despite her recent injury, the plans for Christmas were still on. Their plane landed in Wichita at noon on Christmas Eve. They had dinner that night at her grandparent's house with her parents and brother. The next morning they woke up and opened presents at her parent's house. Jocelyn bought her dad a new truck for Christmas. It was something that her dad had been wanting and she was happy that she had the finances to get it for him. She gave her mom $5000 in cash to buy some new clothes. Last was her brother. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: Hey Justin, I left Josh's present outside, will you go get it? Justin: Yeah, no problem. ::Justin walked to the door and opened it. Then in stepped Miss Britney Spears. Josh gets up, walks over to Britney and giver her a kiss:: Josh: Is this my present? Jocelyn: From me, yeah. Ask Britney what she got you. Josh: What did you get me? Britney: Well I was thinking and I know that nothing is goign to come out of this if we don't get to spend more time together and I really want this to go farther, so I want you to come on tour with me. Josh: Britney, I would love to, but I have to keep my job. I have bills to pay. Britney: That's why I want you to head my stage crew. Setting up and tearing down before and after every show. You'll be on my payroll and we can spend a lot of time together. What do you say? Josh: Of course I'll do it! Britney: Oh, I'm soo happy! ::Britney gives Josh a big hug:: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- At about noon, Jocelyn and Justin headed to her grandparent's house. Justin drove Jocelyn's Durango. When they got there, most of her family was already there (she had a very large family). Jocelyn wore the same outfit that she had worn while performing at her very first 'N Sync concert. (A pair of yellow vinyl pants, white baby-t and a yellow vinyl jacket.) When they got there, they.... well Justin.... carried in all of the presents for her family. Justin and Jocelyn had went in together and gotten each family member a box that had in it a picture of Jocelyn and Justin together, her album and his album ('N Sync) which were all signed. There was like 20 some boxes (I told you that she had a big family) so it took a few trips to get them all in. Josh and Britney ended up helping Justin. When she finally made her way to the door, she carefully (because of the crutches) gave everyone hugs. They were very happy to see her. They ate lunch and then opened presents. Everyone loved the gifts from Jocelyn and Justin. Before they were ready to leave, Jocelyn got everyone's attention and sang "Angel of Mine" acapella. After that, Jocelyn and Justin sang "The First Night (Remix)". When they were finished, Britney and Josh went with them to the airport so that they could drive Jocelyn's Durango back. In the car on the way to the airport, Britney and Jocelyn exchanged presents. Jocelyn gave Britney a necklace that had a diamond "FRIENDS" charm on it. Britney gave Jocelyn a pinkie ring that said "FRIENDS" in diamonds on it. They laughed at how much alike their presents were. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ::On the plane...:: Jocelyn: Justin, I'm worried. Justin: 'Bout what? Jocelyn: My career. I'm worried that this injury is going to affect my career in a major way. I'm worried that when I'm ready to go back, then the fans aren't going to be there for me. Justin: It's not like you're leaving music because of it. You just can't dance. That's it. The dancing isn't what keeps your fans with you. It's the light that shines when you walk into a room. It's the magic that people can feel when you open your mouth to sing. You can still go on talk shows and stuff. It's perfect, actually, because you have a slow song out right now. You don't dance to that anyways. Jocelyn: Well that's true. Thanks Justin. Justin: No problem baby. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Justin's family had waited on the opening of the presents and the lighting of the tree for them to get there. Then it was time to hang all the Christmas ornaments on the tree. As a tradition, Justin's family always had each member of the family put the ornament with their name on it on the tree. They also always put them on there in order of their position in the family. After Justin had put his ornament on the tree, Lynn walked up to Jocelyn and handed her an ornament that had her name on it. Jocelyn was overcome by joy and a small tear ran down her face as she placed the ornament on the tree. Between Christmas and New Years, Jocelyn appeared on Jay Leno. When she performed, she sat on a stool in the middle of the stage. With a guitar in hand, she sang "Angel of Mine". After she was finished, Jennifer (dancer) brought out her crutches and she made her way to Jay's desk. They talked about her injury and what it meant for her career. They also talked about her relationship with Justin and what it was like to date the star of a "boy group". Jocelyn spent a few days after Christmas with Justin in Orlando and then flew back to Wichita to spend some time with her family. Justin ended up flying to Wichita with Joey and JC to spend New Years with Jocelyn and Joey and JC were able to spend time with Ashley and Jennifer. On New Year's night, there was a hockey game in Wichita and they all ended up going. They had to sit at the top of the arena to keep away from all the fans wanting autographs and pictures. After the game was over, they went to Jocelyn's aunt's house (Jennifer and Ashley's mom) for a huge millenium party. Everyone had a few drinks and they ended up dancing all night. When midnight came around, Jocelyn made sure that she was near Justin. They had a very long kiss and celebrated the beginning of the new millinium together, in eachother's arms. Justin ended up having to leave the next day and join the guys in Orlando to work on the new album. Jocelyn had problems of her own to work on. She had to end up rescheduling the tour dates because of her injury. Instead of the tour starting in January, it would be starting in April. She was also writing and recording for the next album. Jocelyn received a call one day from Britney. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Britney: Okay, I was thinking and I want to work on a song with you. I'm coming to Wichita next week to get Josh so that we can start planning the tour and I thought that maybe we could work on a song then. What do you say? Jocelyn: I think that it's a great idea. You know I'll be here. ::laughs:: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Britney was in town the next week and they locked themselves in Jocelyn's bedroom with a guitar and some paper. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn: You know what would be really cool? Britney: What's that? Jocelyn: We could make like a little scenario about us fighting over a guy. Make it like he's been with both of us and we don't know it. Britney: Hey, that's a great idea! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To hours later, they had a destined hit called "The Boy Is Mine". Jocelyn took the song to her band and asked them if they could work this song out. They said that they were only one little part that they'd have to change for it to work. Other than that, it was perfect. Both Britney and Jocelyn were incredibly excited about the song that they called to reserve studio time in Wichita. They jumped into Jocelyn's Durango and headed to the studio. Three hours after they got to the studio, they had their song recorded. After that, they started doing different mixes and everything turned out great. Then Britney and Jocelyn talked about when they were going to release the song as a single. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Britney: My video is suppose to be retired off of TRL sometime next week, I think. Jocelyn: They're retiring my video tomorrow. Carson called me a couple of days ago. He's a real sweetheart! Britney: Yes he is. He's a hottie too! Jocelyn: Oh yeah! ::smiles:: Britney: Alright, so I think that we should release it as a single sometime next week and make a video within the next week or so and then go on TRL and world premiere it. Let's call them up! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jocelyn and Britney called up MTV and hearing that these two artists were collaborating, they asked them if they could send out a "making the video" crew and Jocelyn and Britney agreed. The next couple of days, Britney worked with Josh on planning out the tour set (which was the reason she actually game to Wichita in the first place) and her and Jocelyn were looking for a location for the video. They ended up picking The Hyatt, a ritsy hotel in Wichita, for the shoot location. In the video, Jocelyn and Britney meet after months of dating the same guy (neither of them know it). At the end of the video, Jocelyn and Britney join forces against the two-timing cheat. The song was released on the radio and was an immediate success all over the world. Jocelyn decided not to direct this film since it was not her independent project. Instead, her and Britney had decided to get Fred Durst to do it. Fred was more than happy to direct the video for them. That Friday, the top floor of The Hyatt was shut off to everyone for the video shoot. Only the crew, the director and the two artists were allowed on the top floor. They used two rooms, one for each artist. The guy that they would be playing the two-timing cheat would be Erik Von Detten. Britney had met him while taping Sabrina (he was there to tape his show). She insisted that they ask him to be in the video and Jocelyn didn't argue with her about it. Erik showed up right on time the day of the shoot. The shoot went great and they had their video by the end of the day... a very long day. Two days later, Fred brought them the final product of the video. Jocelyn and Britney both thought that the video was incredible. MTV had told thme that the "Making The Video" would be on that coming Monday (the video was finished on Sunday) and Jocelyn and Britney would be on TRL on Tuesday to talk about the video. When the week totals came in, "The Boy Is Mine" held the number one spot on the Billboard charts. To celebrate, Jocelyn and Britney went out together and got tattoos of friendship hearts on their big toes (I've seen it. It's really cool.). When they came back to Jocelyn's house, Justin was standing there with a worried look on his face. |
