Mu Ko Chumphon is a new national park and has not yet been opened to the public. Covering 317 sq.Km of ocean and encompassing 40 islands and islets, it is set to be the 4th largest Marine Park in Thailand. The marine park is situated on the Gulf of Thailand on the East coast of the country. It falls under the National Marine Parks Division of the Royal Forestry Department in Thailand. The map shows the park's location on the peninsula within close proximity of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. The Park Super Intendant is Mr. M. Somkiat who is a resident in the park. Coastal Pursuits continues to enjoy a good working relationship with him. Mr. Somkiat's support, teaching and guidance is always greatly appreciated. |

As a government run scheme, Chumphon MNP is fully equipped with student accommodation, boats, and class rooms. With the aid of Coastal Pursuits, it now has diving facilities, equipment and the opportunity to reach its community with an outreach awareness program that spreads conservation awareness. The course offers full access to the park facilities under direction of Coastal Pursuits and permission of the Marine Park staff. PADI open water training will encourage new divers to explore and realise the intrinsic beauty of the tropical marine environment. |
