mark feldman's summer trip - stop #2
philadelphia, pa - may 20-23
two days hardly seemed like enough time to explore this former capital of ours!  i had to be picky, so i decided to stick with things you can't find anywhere else.  thus, i checked out the famous liberty bell and independence hall (which is actually a national park - my first one of the summer!  i stayed with cousin ray (who you'll see on philly page 2)
left: the actual chair george washington sat in when he signed the declaration of independence!
my two days to philadeplhia also included a visit to south street (philly's version of newbury st but less upscale), reading terminal market (a bustling food court, both two pics above and far upper right), the 9th st italian market, a sampling of genuine philly cuisine such as cheese steak and water ice (sounds kinda redundant, eh?  it's kind of a slushie with less sugar, i.e. actually palatable), an evening with my relatives, and of course a visit to the ballpark - for the latter two of these, check out philadelphia page 2.
