Entries into the 2005 Spread the Word 50 word short stories Competition “Punch Drunk Love” I am in ecstasy, in agony. Despite punch drunk love, you bewitch and sober me, long for me, want for me, capture my lust... complete me. I wake in splendour, in the ecstatic mood I hope he craves. I turn onto my back and take him finally, happy in love. “Millionaire” I’m not sure. The presenter tells me to take my time. I have called my mother for the first time in two months and she cannot help me. The leather seat of the chair is dripping with sweat and it’s a million or bust... I have it... again, not sure. “Father’s Punishment” They were their most vunerable there, often waking in the night, bent over the man's knee and screaming with excruciating innocence. He took a belt. The cold, harsh leather scarring their backs forever. Callous tears in the eyes of his young daughters, instilling an unmistakable sense of rage and introversy. “Bookshop Child Spawn Out of Control” The elfen child smacks his forehead in a continous motion with the audiobook CD and she laughs at how cute he can be. The youngster’s regularity has cracked the plasitc box of the cover and the blood seeps from his pores. The broken plastic fills his hand. He laughs uncontrollably. |
