Red mill soy Protien Drink-submitted by Millie
Ingredients:
1 8 oz container fat-free, sugar free yogurt (I used cherry vanilla)
1/2 cup of skim milk
1/2 cup of ice
3 scoops Bob's Red Mill Soy Protein Powder
1/3 can sugar free peaches with juice

Blend in blender to desired consistency.

The amounts on the milk and ice can vary depending on the thickness you
want. I've seen the soy powder in the health food section of Kroger,
Target, etc. This smoothie has about 28 g of protein.

Another favorite of mine is the same recipe with pina colada yogurt and
pineapples instead of peaches. Yum!
Split pea soup
you'll need a 1 pound bag of dry split peas...rinse  and remove
any stones....keep in fresh cold water for about an hour.
Ingredients

1 large green pepper/chopped
1 large Spanish onion/chopped
5 cloves of garlic/mushed with a mortar
1 teaspoon of oregano
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoon of white cooking wine
1 smoked ham hock
2 ounces of pancetta (thick bacon)
2 tablespoons of salt
8 cups of water or chicken stock(if using stock, reduce salt in
recipie)

In an empty 4 quart pot...add 1/4 of the oil...heat it
add the onions and green peppers cook until onions are translucent , medium low heat...now add the pancetta, the garlic and the cooking wine...slowly stir and add the seasonings...the bay leaf, oregano and salt. Stir and cook slowly for about 5 minutes. now add the 8 cups of water, the ham hock and the split peas.  Bring to a boil, the remaining 1/4 cup of olive oil...reduce to a simmer for about an hour and a half.
Let cool.....remove bay leaf. Remove ham hock ...take off any ham from the bone and return to the soup. Blend the soup in batches in the blender until creamy smooth. This freezes very well.
