[Sunday, September 21, 2003 - 8:54pm PT] You're probably just as surprised as I am right now for the reason being I actually updated during a normal weekend. I guess you could also say this comic isn't as funny as the rest, but it's not like OJStrips was truely funny to begin with. I guess you're now becoming accustomed to the theme of these webcomics: My Misfortunes! Well... I guess for the time being, or until I can finally think of something joyous to post up. Anyways, during the last few weeks of summer, Telus, my ADSL Internet provider, sorta had a problem that wouldn't be fixed for about a week. The problem being that it was super duper ultra more laggy than 56k. For those special few of you who realize the benevolent presence of high speed internet feels like a devine power decended from heaven... this lack of speed was just... almost too much to handle, for me anyways. This experience... it just brought back too many bad episodes of the days when I was unfortunate to have to deal with 56k. I think it was for about 3 years, during the existance of Napster. But it kinda seemed rediculous to pay about $20 for 56k, so we found some other "better" internet provider which was a bit cheaper, but rest assured, was still 56k. So after brooding with dialup, I finally convinced my dad to switch to ADSL. Tangent again. The comic, I guess, just reflects upon all the internet poviders I have encountered thus far. My dad thought of getting cable, since it was "supposed" to be fast and a bit cheaper. We got it yesterday. It lagged. A lot. A whole lot. Ah screw it! It was 56k all over again! No, it was worse! It was realizing we were paying for "high speed" internet, which obviously costs more than 56k, but we're getting 56k or some other crap for some unknown reason. Okay okay... it's not AS slow as 56k, but you gotta dramatize in order for people to get interested, y'know? It's been slow for about the whole day. I guess what really got me was when I attempted to check up on this site. Y'know how I like to poke fun at dial up people, right? And I guess some, or most of you know of the hidden message on my front page? Well... Due to the lag, I could read it... A sudden surge of anger, fear and distress passed through my vains and I couldn't help but try and express my discomfort by means of this webcomic. -The Henrimeister |
