BEYOND OLD GLORY When I look at Old Glory, waving its red, white and blue, those stars and stripes of liberty waving so proud and true, I look beyond Old Glory, far beyond what I can see, and I think of those, who gave their all, to keep our country free. I think of my sister, Joannie, with that flag clutched in her hand, in place of her husband Lee, killed in Korea, a far off land. And I think of Joan and Lee, multiplied far beyond my ken, and I hope and pray such sacrifice, need never be made again. So, wave on, Old Glory, while we remain forever free. For the cost to keep you waving there, goes far beyond what we can see. copyright 2000 by Roland Ricker graphics by Wendy's Backgrounds |
