More Than That

Chapter 2: The Concert (Part 3)
“Geez. Could we be any closer?” Sarah yelled to Arlet. When she didn’t get a reply back, Sarah turned to face her. A huge smile was spread across Arlet’s lips and her face was glowing.  Sarah chuckled a little. Arlet looked like a teenager again.

“I’ll never break your heart. I’ll never make you cry. I’d rather die, than live without you. I’ll give you all of me. Honey, that’s no lie.” The five Backstreet Boys sang. While four of the guys’ eyes gazed across everyone in the arena, Nick’s eyes were locked on one girl in particular. He smiled, winked and sang just to her.

Arlet blushed every time he did that. Her smile would get bigger and giggle a little.

“Arlet!” Sarah said nudging Arlet in the side.

“Yeah.” Arlet answered not taking her eyes away from Nick. Sarah looked at her best friend in confusion. Following her best friend’s gaze, she saw what Arlet was smiling about. A little smile crept on her face as she decided to leave Arlet alone.

“As time goes. By you will get to know me. A little more better. Girl that’s the way love goes.” AJ sang. Nick mouthed the words. “And I. Know you’re afraid. To let your feelings show. And I understand. Girl time to let go. I deserve a try honey, just once. Give me a chance and I’ll prove this all wrong. You walked in you were so quick to judge. But honey he’s nothing like me. Darlin’ why can’t you see?” Arlet bit her lip and smiled.

Throughout the whole night, Sarah watched the interaction between Nick and Arlet. As she was watching, she would laugh, roll her eyes and sometimes sigh. At the end of the show, Sarah sat back in her chair, looking straight at Arlet, with a funny grin slapped a crossed her face.

“What?” Arlet asked, looking at Sarah for the first time since the show started.

She shrugged. “Nothing.”

Arlet raised an eyebrow. “I know that grin. Something’s up. What is it?”

“Like I said. Nothing.” She answered getting up from her seat. Most of the venue already emptied out. “I’m just glad you enjoyed the show.”

A sigh came from Arlet. “Yeah. That was an awesome show. Did you think so?”

“Yeah sure I did.” Sarah answered, trying to hold back as much sarcasm as possible.

Meanwhile backstage, the guys gave Nick grief.

“Dude, we saw you flirting with that girl in the front. Don’t even try to deny it.” AJ said following him to the dressing room.

Nick just shrugged in response.

“Does Little Nicky have a crush on a mystery lady?” Brian cooed.

Nick blushed.

“It’s too bad you don’t know who she is.” Howie said right behind him.

“Yeah that is too bad.” Kevin replied.

“Hey Nick! Did you see her? That girl in the front?” Aaron said from the couch when the guys entered the room.

“Oh yeah Little Man. Nick definitely saw her. You should of seen him flirting and trying to be all manly like.” AJ answered.

“So you thought she was hot?” Aaron asked excitingly.

“Yeah, she was hot. Damn, I wish I knew who she was.” Nick answered wishfully.

“Hey Guys!” Leighanne said walking into the room, followed by Kristin and Amanda. She walked over to Brian and gave him a kiss. Kristin and Amanda did the same to their men. “Oh Nick, that girl you were flirting with the whole night is still out their with her friend. Maybe you want to go over and introduce yourself.”

Nick’s eyes lit up. He threw on his shirt and ran out the door. After Nick made sure there weren’t any fans around, he slowly started to walk out of the backstage area to where Arlet and Sarah were just getting ready to leave.

He heard one of them sigh. “Yeah. That was an awesome show. Did you think so?”

“Yeah sure I did.” He heard another.

“Well, I guess we better go. I have a lot of calls to make tomorrow. You know, since the weddings off and everything.”

“Wedding?” Nick asked thought to himself. “I wonder what happened...” Nick shook off the thought and proceeded towards the two.

Sarah noticed Nick walking towards them. “Holy crap Arlet! Look who’s coming over!”

Arlet turned her head behind her and let out a gasp. “Oh my God. It’s Nick Carter.”

“Hi. I’m Nick. I noticed you from the stage and I was hoping I could get the chance to introduce myself.” He said extending his hand out.

Sarah rolled her eyes.

“Hi Nick. I’m Arlet and this is my friend Sarah.” Arlet said excepting his hand and pointing to Sarah. He shook her hand as well. “Wow. This is a complete honor. I can’t believe I’m meeting you right now.”

Nick smiled. “No, it’s a complete honor to meet someone who is as beautiful as you.” Arlet laughed. “What’s so funny?” He asked, baffled.

“Well, I don’t want to sound rude or anything. It’s just that, that was pretty corny.” She bit her lip.

“Oh that’s okay. I’m sorry. That was pretty corny.”

“No it’s okay. I’ve heard worse. Anyway, it was nice meeting you. Like I said, it’s a complete honor but we should be going.”

“Well, I wish we could get to know each other better. I’ll tell you what, I’ll give you my cell number and maybe we could hang out next time I’m here. I know we just met but I would really like to get to know you.” He said taking out a piece of paper and a pen from his pocket.

“Uh...I’m not sure about that.”

Nick looked stunned. Everyone he offered his number to never even thought twice about it. “Well, why not?”

“It’s just that...I don’t know. It does seem sudden. I mean, we’ve only known each other for what, five minutes and you want my phone number? I mean, you might give me your number now and everything but when I call you the next time you guys swing around Denver, who knows if you’ll remember me. It would just be pointless.”

“Oh yeah you do have a point there. Well listen, me and the guys aren’t leaving for the next show until tomorrow afternoon. Do you think you can stay for awhile and we can just, you know, talk or something?”

Arlet looked over at Sarah. “I don’t know. Sarah needs to go home and if I stay, I won’t have a ride home.”

“I could give you a ride home. I could get a limo to take you home or something. So, how ‘bout it?”

Arlet looked over to Sarah. She just smiled. “Hey, I don’t care. You can stay if you want. I do need to go home though. I have so much crap to do. So, you can stay if you want. I’ll just see you at home.”

“You sure? I don’t have to stay if you don’t want me to.”

“No I’m sure. Stay. Well, I better go. I’ll see you at the house.”

“Okay then. See ya soon.”

“It was nice meeting you Nick. She better get home safe or I’ll get your ass. I’m already on the war path for two people. You don’t want to join them.” She said half jokingly.

“It was nice meeting you too. Don’t worry, she’ll get home safely.” He said.

With that, Sarah smiled at Arlet and winked. She turned around and headed towards the exit.

“C’mon, you wanna meet the guys?” Nick asked.
