More Than That

Chapter 2: The Concert (Part 2)
“Thank you Denver! You’ve been great!” The little pop star said to the screaming crowd. “Are you ready for my brother and his group?” More screams. “I can’t hear you!” Louder screams. “Well, then. They’ll be up in a little bit! Thanks again for coming! I’m Aaron Carter saying peace and good night!”

“Well, that was interesting.” Arlet said, laughing a little.

“I know. It’s kind of funny to see a 14-year-old trying to impress you. I mean, he was winking at you the whole time.” Sarah said nudging her best friend.

“Yeah that was pretty funny. I don’t think he knows how old I am. I’m almost 22. Do I really look that young?”

“Not really.”

“Oh okay. Are you saying I look old?” Arlet replied back sarcastically.

“No! I was just saying you don’t look like your 14. You look young cause you are, but not 14-years-old young.”

“Maybe he’s into the older women.” The two of them laughed as Aaron walked off the stage.

When Aaron stepped off the stage, his mom was there to greet him with a bottle of water and a towel.

“Nice show little man.” His brother Nick said giving him a high five.

“Thanks man. Dude, there was this hot chic in the front. But she seems way to old for me. You should check her out.”

Nick’s eyebrow lifted. “Okay, you’ve been performing way too long. You got to stop checkin’ out the older women.”

“Ah Nick, leave him alone. He can check out all the women he wants to.” AJ said walking up to Aaron.

“Thanks man.” Aaron replied gratefully.

“J, you have got to stop putting bad stuff in his head man. He’s only 14.”

“Too late.” AJ replied smiling.

Nick rolled his eyes as he followed AJ back to their dressing room.

“Lay one on me woman.” He heard AJ say to his girlfriend, Amanda Latona. They were back together and Nick was happy. He was glad the two were back together again. Amanda really helped AJ out of his addiction with alcohol. He hoped they’ll stay together forever.

“Hey Nick.” Brian said looking up from his magazine.

“Hey. Leighanne not here yet?”

“Not yet. She should be here any minute now though.”

“That’s cool.” Nick replied plopping himself next to his best friend on the sofa.

“So, how did your brother do?”

“Pretty good. He was checkin’ out the older women again. He said there was a hot girl in the front row but she looked too old for him. He said for me to look for her.”

Brian chuckled. “Well, he’s a 14-year-old boy. What do you expect of him? I mean, you were like that at his age.”

“Yeah I know but he needs to leave me some pretty girls too. If he keeps it up, there’ll be no women for me!”

“Okay guys, we need to be ready in 15 minutes. Let’s go!” Kevin said coming through the door.

“Show time!” AJ responded jumping up.

In front of the stage, Sarah was helping Arlet get out all of her anger with Trent.

“Yeah, he did have some weird smelling feet. It was really gross.” Arlet said laughing.

“What was worse about him?”

“Probably the fact that he was a really sloppy kisser. God, he would be so gross when we kissed! Yuck! I’m actually glad I don’t have to kiss him in front of my whole family and friends. Ew!”

Sarah was rolling on the ground by now. Arlet was right behind her.

“Phew! I feel relieved. Thanks for that.”

“No problem.” Sarah answered.

“So, did you really like Trent?”

“Well, I guess. He was pretty cool but I guess it was all an act. You know, since he had to hide his affair and all.”

“Yeah I guess you’re right. Out of all of my boyfriends, who’d you liked the best?”

“Derek all the way. It’s too bad it didn’t work out. You guys still are friends, right?”

“Oh yeah, of course. Before, during and after our relationship, we’ve been best friends. He still is. He’s my best friend, besides you of course. He’s at his last year in collage in Florida. I just talked to him last night actually. You were asleep the whole time.”

“Oh, that’s cool. You guys were going out since you were a Freshman and he was a Sophomore in high school. You guys were totally cute. How long did you guys date?”

“Four years. It’s been almost three years since we broke up.”

“Wow, that’s a long time you guys were together. You guys would of had some nice lookin’ kids.” Arlet laughed when the house lights went out. Screams filled the venue as smoke started to fill the stage. “Looks like it’s starting!” Arlet yelled to Sarah over the loud commotion.

The 5 Backstreet Boys took the stage in the dark. All of them were pumped up and ready to go. The first chords to “Everyone” started to play and the crowd grew louder. The stage lights came on. The shrieks grew more.

As they were standing there, looking out into the crowd, Nick scanned the front row.

“Whoa. Looks like my little brother was right,” Nick thought to himself as his eye rested on a dark-haired girl right in the dead center of the front row. “I guess I need to get to her first before Aaron does.” He thought, smiling straight at her.
