More Than That Chapter 8 - Having Fun In The Sun (Part 2) |

“Slow down woman! You’re going way too fast!” Nick shrieked. Arlet laughed. “Oh, I love to make you sweat!” She said mischievously. She slowed down the car until it was at the speed limit and looked at Nick. “You can be such a party pooper, you know that?” “Yeah but you said you would be careful with my car.” “I was! I may have been going fast, but I watched out for everyone around me.” She replied innocently. Nick slightly chuckled. “No more of that now. At least not in any of my cars.” Arlet gave him the pouty lip. He laughed. “Turn left up here.” Arlet did what she was told and turned left onto part of a very expensive neighborhood. Every home she saw was at least 2-stories and were huge. Some houses had their own personal security gate in the front. Arlet was completely star-struck. “It’s the last one down there.” Nick pointed ahead of them. “Holy Cow!” Arlet breathed. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing as she pulled up to the black, iron security gate and gaped at Nick. Nick laughed at her reaction. “I bet your house is twice as big as mine.” “Are you kidding? I don’t even think my house is half this size.” Arlet gawked. She pulled up to one of the many garages Nick had and parked it outside. “See! I think your garage is bigger than my house! You got like, six of them! I only have a 3-car garage.” “Well, I like cars. And I use one of the 2-car ones to put my Prowler. You know, being eighty-thousand dollars, I take extra care of it. That’s why I don’t ever drive it.” Nick explained. “Let’s go inside.” Arlet nodded as she followed Nick. She kept staring at the magnificent house. When Nick opened the door and they walked in, Arlet dropped all her bags. Nick’s house was like her all-time dream house, minus the basement. The living was the first room people entered from the front door. It had a colorful couch, love seat and recliner and a little coffee table in front of a huge big screen TV loaded with a DVD player, CD player, VCR, and many video game systems were hooked up to it. She could see the kitchen farther back and saw the sliding door leading out to a beach. She saw many other doors leading into other rooms but didn’t know where they led to cause they were closed. “I’ll show you your room upstairs.” Nick smiled. She just nodded as she followed him. Walking up the stairs, she saw the wall beside her were covered with many framed pictures of Nick and the Boys ad his family. Some were of him when was little, way before Backstreet came along. Arlet noticed one picture of him in the bathtub, standing with his hands on his hips. She started to giggle. Nick could feel his cheeks becoming warm. He knew which picture Arlet was looking at and he was slightly embarrassed. “This is your room. Brian and Leighanne helped me decorate it. I hope you feel comfortable.” He opened the door and revealed a gorgeous bedroom. The walls were a light green color and the huge queen size bed’s covers matched it. They also had different shades of green on it also. Across from the bed stood a dresser with a mirror on top. There was tiny miniature knick-knacks of marine life that stood on top as well. On the farthest wall from the door, a sliding glass door was there that led out to a balcony, looking out over the beach. The Sun flooded into the room perfectly. “Oh, Nick. It’s gorgeous. Oh look! An Avalanche clock!” She exclaimed, pointing to an Avalanche alarm clock next to her bed. “I’m glad you like it.” He told her. “I’ll let you get unpacked. I’ll be in the living room downstairs. Unless you want some help?” “Oh no. I’ll be fine. Thanks though.” They smiled once more to each other then Nick walked out of the room. “Woa! A walk-in closet! No way?! Right on!” He heard Arlet yell. He chuckled to himself and walked down the stairs. After about an hour, Arlet walked downstairs. She entered the living room unnoticed and found Nick on the floor with his legs crossed, playing his Sony Playstation. She laughed at Nick who had his tongue sticking out at the side of his lip, in complete concentration to his game. “God! You suck.” Arlet said. “What?” Nick jumped slightly. He paused his game then turned around. “Oh, I didn’t see you there.” “Yeah, I could see that. Anyways, I said you suck.” “Oh yeah. You think you’re better than me, huh? Okay then, bring it on.” He challenged, smiling. Arlet just shrugged her shoulders then sat down next to Nick. He gave her the other controller. “Watch the master at work.” She said. “Scoot your butt. What are we playing?” “Tekken 3.” “Oh! I’ve beat this game so many times. Be prepared to get your ass whooped!” “We’ll see about that.” Nick un-paused his game and changed it to two players. After they selected their people to fight, they started the game. “I win! It only took me thirty seconds to kill you. Man, you suck big time!” Arlet celebrated. Nick was in shock. Arlet only did about two moves and won. He couldn’t believe he lost so quickly to a girl. Lost to a girl at a video game. He slowly turned his head to a smugly smiling Arlet. “How’d you do that?” He asked, awe-struck. “Little brother. He would spend meaningless hours in front of our TV and play non-stop for hours.” “You have got to teach me how to do that so I could kick Brian’s ass.” “Maybe.” “Oh c’mon!” “Maybe later.” “Okay.” Nick said. “What do you wanna do now?” “I don’t care. Where’s Brian and Leighanne? I thought they were here to visit you also.” “Oh, they went over to AJ and Amanda’s house. They’ll be back later tonight. Maybe AJ and Amanda will come over also.” Nick answered turning off the game and TV. “Hey! Do you want to go out to my beach out back? It’s my own private beach so no one could spy on me.” “Yeah! I’d love to! I haven’t been to the beach in a long time.” “Good. I was hoping you would. C’mon, lets go!” Nick grabbed her wrist and dragged her out to his patio in the back and flew down the steps onto the warm Florida beach sand. Nick let go off her wrist half way to the water and ran full speed into the ocean. Arlet laughed in amusement at how much he looked like a kid. He ran and then dived in. He came up from the water, shook his head to get the water out of his face and gave Arlet a childlike smile. Arlet smiled back. Her heart melted. He is so cute...she thought. Wait! no...oh man. “Come on in! The water’s great!” Nick shouted to her. She shook her head, smiling. “No way! This jersey's authentic!” She shouted back. “Do you have something under it?” “Yeah.” “Then take the jersey off!” Arlet sighed in defeat. “Okay.” She took off the jersey and carefully say in on the ground. She giggled quietly to herself when she noticed Nick staring at her. Nick couldn’t take his eyes off of her after she took off the jersey. She was wearing a tight, black, spaghetti-strapped tank top that stopped just above her navel. She had a very lean body and Nick could see her well-defined abs. They reminded him of Janet Jackson’s. As the Sun reflected off her pierced belly button, he noticed her arms and legs. They were very lean and perfect. They weren’t too muscular looking but he knew that they were very powerful. He noticed on her left arm a tattoo that went all around her upper arm and right above it was some kind of Chinese symbol. “Hey uh, Nick? What are you staring at?” Asked Arlet, trying to hide her amusement. She lifted her eyebrow. “Huh? What?” Nick snapped back to reality. “Uh...um...nothing.” He replied slightly guilty and embarrassed Arlet caught him. “Are you coming or not?!” She smiled. “I don’t know. I think I’m getting second thought.” She joked. “Oh c’mon! What? Are scared of the water or something?” “No! I just don’t want to anymore.” “Please?! C’mon!” He begged. He gave her his puppy dog look. She laughed at him. “You are so pathetic.” “Pathetic, huh?” He responded, devilishly. Nick cocked an eyebrow and started to run out of the water, straight towards Arlet. Arlet’s eyes went wide as she turned around to run away from Nick. But she hardly got away when Nick grabbed around the stomach from behind and spun her around. He carried her towards the water, as she struggled to get herself out of his embrace by kicking her legs out. They were both laughing. “Nick! Let me go! Put me down! Nick!” She struggled. “Nope! No way!” He replied back evilly. He entered the water then dunked her. He let go of her underneath the water. She came up, gasping for air. “Why you little punk!” She told him, wiping some of the water out of her eyes. “Punk, eh? What are you gonna do about it?” He teased her. Arlet just lifted her eyebrows mischievously and slowly walked over to Nick. Before he could do anything, Arlet grabbed his ankles from underneath the water and pulled. “Woa!” Nick yelped as he fell backwards into the water. He too came up gasping for air. “That’s it! You’ve done it!” He said, smiling as he lunged forward. The two of them played out in the ocean for the rest of the day until the Sun began to set. They decided to sit on the sand and watch it set behind the vast, blue horizon of the ocean. After the Sun set and the stars started to appear, they walked back up to Nick’s house. |
