Tunnel of Love: Martin Milner as "Dick Pepper"

Seven years ago Martin Milner starred on Broadway at the Biltmore Theatre in the "Ninety Day Mistress." Prior to that he did "Any Wednesday" in stock at the Royal Poinciana Playhouse and the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Florida and he also did it at Melodyland in Anaheim, California. He got started in the theatre at the Cornish Playhouse in Seattle, Washington, and has done theatre off and on through the years.

Martin Milner portrays the rugged, knowledgeable, senior officer, Pete Malloy, in the Mark 7 Universal action-packed police drama "Adam-12." The amiable, quick-smiling Mr. Milner has been an actor for more than half of his life. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 28. His family moved to Seattle, where he got his first taste of theatre as a ten-year-old in local children's plays. From there the family moved to Hollywood. While attending school he studied with an acting coach and signed with an agent. After graduation from North Hollywood High, Mr. Milner studied theatre arts at the University of Southern California for one year, before leaving school to concentrate on his career. His first important screen role was portraying the second oldest son in "Life With Father" starring Irene Dunne and William Powell. After several years of acting in supporting roles, he was inducted into the Army Field Forces in the Research Division and served as the Master of Ceremonies for a touring unit based at Fort Ord, California. He managed to get a leave during this period to play in "The Long Grey Line" starring Tyrone Power and Maureen O'Hara.

The year 1957 was a big one for Mr. Milner in many ways. He married television actress and singer Judi Jones, he landed an important part in the Hecht-Hill-Lancaster production of "The Sweet Smell of Success," and played a major part in "Marjorie Morningstar" for Warner Brothers. His really big break came when he landed the part of Tod in "Route 66." For the next four seasons he traveled all over the country doing the full hour weekly series. This role gave him the variety and scope involving both comedy and drama.

For relaxation, Mr. Milner fishes and runs his ranch where he raises avocados. Much of his leisure time is spent collecting antique furniture, especially in the Early American Period. He and his wife live in Fall Brook, California. They are the parents of two boys and two girls.
