The Skyline Trail is a short, three or four day, trip with some of the most outstanding views I've seen anywhere. You can begin the trip at the very popular Maligne Lake or from the north end of the trail on the road up to Maligne Lake. The trail is busy. It requires reservations well in advance of hiking time.

We left Maligne Lake late and had to make dinner under the tarp in the rain. Here the SOG (me) is looking back down the valley toward Maligne Lake. It is the first full day and the views are marvellous already.

This is on the Big Shovel Pass looking back at The Snow Bowl.

Mountain goats at the summit of Big Shovel Pass. One of them ran down and stopped on the trail in front of me. I wasn't sure if I was being challenged or just an object of curiosity.

Looking down at Curator Campground. It is in the light area surrounded by trees Doing the trail from Maligne Lake north you will come to Curator before The Notch. You must leave the main trail and go down a steep one km side trail to Curator. We were not looking forward to returning to this point the next morning and, then, having to continue on the steep climb to The Notch, high point of the trail.
