Today was probably my best day in Australia so far! I feel very blessed to have met such sweet and amazing people =) Today I spent the day with friends I met (F. and ppl)... we went to South Bank where there are many tiny shops. I got Emu soap and lotion and a stuffed Emu! (btw, reader, if you are lost as to what an Emu is, go here) We can eat Skittles in Australia!!! Around noonish we went to the QUT MSA BBQ by crossing the bridge by foot. I met some cool ppl at the BBQ. F. and her family were so considerate to welcome me into their home and show me Brisbane. Later in the evening, they all took me to masajid. For the first time in a western state, I saw writing (a message) on the outside of the Masjid. Later at night, all the gals and I went to a halaal restaurant called Nando's. The food there was absolutely delicious!!! The best halaal burger I've had in quite a while... Afterwards, we went to this ice cream place called Cold Rock. It was a very interesting ice cream place... You had a huge variety of toppings... and, these weren't just toppings, but these were candy bars and things. You chose a topping and they crushed it up with a hammer. After crushing, they mixed it into the ice cream. I've never seen anything like it before. I learned some new words today:
ice cream = ice block
lots = heaps
shady = dodgey
hiking = bush walking
candy = lollies
french fries = chips
Oh yes, I forgot to write in here that I went to the Indooroopilly Mall a few days ago on my way home from work, and there was a Pakistani eating joint in the food court. How awesome!
