August 21, 2003 - Thursday Today was and is an extremely hectic day, which is why I am surprised I even have time to write in here... However, I know if I don't write right now, I'll lose the feelings and thoughts I have at this moment! Today is my last day in Planning, and boy has it been an interesting 8 weeks. It feels like you're changing jobs or the last day of work... especially b/c I go to Operations on Monday and b/c I'm taking tomorrow (Friday) off of work to head to New York with my family for the APSENA (Association of Pakistani Scientists and Engineers of North America) Conference. Gosh, on Monday it'll be back to square one again! Back to meeting new faces, remembering names, smiling constantly, grasping onto the ropes of a completely new Division, and the list goes on... Hmm, I am looking forward to it, but at the same time I don't feel like leaving the awesome people I've met in Planning and the stable consistent lifestyle I've established here where I am now. I like my office too. Don't get me wrong, it's not as bad as I make it out to be. It's not like I'm leaving this place! Maryam, shake out of it!! I'm just going 3 floors away (from the 11th floor to the 8th floor - big deal). I'll still have my lunch buddies, and who knows, I may pick up some new lunch partners too! By the end of my program, I'll know like 90% of this building, and that's a pretty cool thought =) Even now I notice that I'll know people when I take the elevator down and up each day. I always see a friendly and familiar face, and we hit it off. It's a nice feeling... I am really exhausted as it is today, and I think it's best I sign off now... a little prayer before I do though... Oh God, give me the strength, peace, and enthusiasm to start this new phase on Monday. Oh God, give me the confidence to walk and talk as who I am. Oh God, bless me and have mercy on me. Oh God, thank you for all that you have done for me while I was in Planning. Oh God, thank you for the halaal meat experience (more to come on that later in next entry)... |
