December 1, 2003 - Monday It’s another manic Monday. It’s another crisp day in winter*. It’s not just any day. It’s the first of December. Indeed, it’s another Monday. Ok, that was my attempt at starting a poem after realizing that the 1st, 3rd, and 5th verses rhymed and the 2nd and 4th verses rhymed. After going at it for about 11.5 seconds, I came to the conclusion I’d leave it there. After all, I’m no whiz when it comes to poetry. So, where have I been this past month? Hmm, I have written in my real journal a few times in the last month, but I was either too busy or too lazy to write online. Where do I start... And, btw, for those friends that I promised to email/call, I will soon, InshaAllah. I haven’t forgotten about you, I’ve just been a little over my head with stuff. In the meanwhile, this entry will have to do… until you get the real me ;) All of November was spent in Ramzan events – iftaris, fasting mania, taraweeh (evening prayer), reading Qur'aan, socializing with family & friends - not to mention - work. All that left little or no time for other activities. This Ramzan seemed to come and go with the blink of an eye. As always, I don't feel I got as much out of this blessed month as I should have… I’m still struggling to catch up. I’m fasting today as a continuation of the month of blessings =) Last week was a long and weird (for lack of a better term) week. I went to work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Tuesday was Eid, so I made sure to take annual leave, and of course Thursday was Thanksgiving. No, I didn’t have Friday off from work although most people took off by using their monstrous annual leave. Little poor ‘ol me couldn’t afford to take Friday off from work since my sis and I are going to California at the end of December. I’m trying to save up my annual leave so I can accrue at least 6 or 7 days of leave by that time. I have sick days, so I guess I could have called in sick on Friday, but how likely would it be that I got sick the day AFTER Thanksgiving? Exactly. Thursday was fun because my family and I went up to NJ to be with family for Thanksgiving. Too bad we had to rush back for me to go back to work on Friday. Saturday I hung out with friends and then went to the CAIR Dinner, which absolutely rocked!!! Dennis Kucinich spoke, and he did a mighty good job! Sunday I bummed around all-day and caught up on sleep (not that I really had to catch up, but I guess my body was just being lazy – so what else is new, lol?). There’s a whole heck of a lot that’s happened in this past month, but my mind is resembling a blank page right now, so I guess it’s for me to remember later and perhaps never share =) * technically it's still the season of fall |
