Beijing, 6 April 2003
Tday we went to the Forbidden City, Gugong in Chinese.
The side of the front gate to Gugong.
We took the subway there, yes this is a Chinese subway.
One of the lions on the bridge in front of the front gate.
This is the first major square u c when u enter the "restricted" area from Gugong.
The back corner of the square.
The 2nd door after the entrance door. When u look closely, u can c a girl dressed as courtship on the balcony.
Once again the square,
but w less ppl this time.
This photo was supposed to b a close-up as the building was v square. As a result of Vincent's plan, u can't really c me... Luckily I always wear my red scarf!
Vincent looking over the square.
I wanted to take a photo from the side 2, but I completely forgot. Anyway, these stairs surround the building and r all carved w dragons. A little moat in the park-like area.
More roof deco here
Even more roof deco, I really like that!
This is actually a photo that u can see in travel guides a lot. Apparently the name of an emperor or similar is carved in one of the rocks, but I haven't been able to find it.
This looked like a chapel...
A bit worn off, but still lovely
The one in the front is actually an emperor on a chicken. There is a legend about this, but I don't exactly remember it... I think it was that the guy ripped off the country somehow and as a result got put on a roof displayed like this as a result... (hope I am sortof right about this)
I just really liked this view...
I have never been able to find this 9 Dragon Wall, and now Vincent found it for me. (yes I do get lost easily) It looks really nice and all the dragons r actually different!
Even though I wasn't feeling too well, I still wanted to b in the pic w the dragons.
The same house as b4 from a different angle.
Eight of the nine dragons.
Go through this gate to c the Nine Dragon Wall. I should really remember that...
The one that didn't fit onto the previous picture.
