Dear Radar. After reading your last letter to Colonel Potter, I was most saddened by how your farm is going. My son, I am praying for you that it will pick up and bring you much joy. Myself coming from a farming family, I can understand the frustration that you and your mother must be going through. Though I am glad to hear that your animals are doing well.
On a much lighter and happier note, I am overjoyed with happiness about you and Patti and your recent engagement. She seems like a lovely girl and I wish you both a world of happiness. I do hope – as you wrote in your letter – that we are able to be there for the occasion. If not as your celebrant, then as your friend.
Radar, I said this to you quite a while ago, and I’ll say it again; you are a good, kind and loving Christian. And I want you to remember that the Lord is always with you and to turn to him in times of trouble, confusion and happiness. I know that he will guide you all through your life, and through him your farm will once again bring you happiness.
May the Lord bless you in everyway Walter. I pray for you, for Patti, your mother and your farm. And also that this war will end soon and will be the last one we ever have. I hope to see you when we all get home. I’ll let the others inform you of what’s going on.
God bless you Walter Yours Truly Father Francis John Patrick Mulcahy |
