I recall the days of real science chat in BPE, galaxy, b4physics, fundamental, eagle averro just to mention a few. Where science topics may reach intensity but nevertheless it was science topics at its best. Casual chat would also take place of course but only when the science topics had reached a conclusion for that period.
This for some time now has switched and last night took the cake….
One particular nick asked some astronomy questions where some were obligingly willing to answer, but another conversation was going on in voice already for quite a while. Not one of science but really just a he said she said…. When one person came into voice and asked if he could have the mic for 15 minutes to explain this astronomy question. This request was denied. Not only was it denied once, it was in fact denied 5 times with words like *shut up* and *we should put him on ignore*
A science topic was dismissed for idle chatter of no importance and even hand clapping by the same bunch when one broke into a song (obviousely he had nothing left to say but was determined to hang on to the mic) ….. at this stage I muted voice
Maybe the time has come to say good bye to BPE room 1 and look for a science topic maybe in an idle chitty chatty, bloated, droopy booby chat room or just take my time and wait it out patiently and watch the so called new forum as of late having taken over voice endlessly dismissing science chat completely and wait for its collapse such as is the rule as I’ve experienced in the past of BPE.
Hence for now I’ll just save my voice card and not bother to use voice at all.
