The Mason City Kennel Club, Inc. is a not-for-profit dog club dedicated to the further advancement of all purebred dogs in accordance with the Rules & Regulations of the American Kennel Club. Mason City Kennel Club was organized in March 1948 and held its first American Kennel Club (A.K.C.) licensed dog show on May 30, 1949. The club has been conducting annual dog shows since 1973. Originally a Conformation orientated club, M.C.K.C. has grown considerably in the past 5+ decades. Conformation, Agility, Obedience, Tracking, Field Trials, Herding, Hunt Tests, Flyball, & Rally Obedience are a few of the sports that our members now enjoy participating in. M.C.K.C. encourages responsible dog ownership through exhibition, education, and training programs; and encourages dog owners and breeders to produce higher quality dogs in each breed. |
The History of Mason City Kennel Club, Inc. |
Ownership of a registered dog is not a requirement of this club. You do even not have to own a dog to join … only to love dogs! Guests are welcome to attend Mason City Kennel Club, Inc. meetings. Persons interested in becoming a member of the Mason City Kennel Club must attend a General Meeting in order to acquire a membership application from the M.C.K.C. Secretary. The completed application needs to be returned to the Secretary along with a $3.00 fee to begin the six month Pre-membership period that is required to join. This pre-member period allows a person to become familiar with the club’s members and activities, and allows the club members to become familiar with the prospective new member. Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If possible, please email the club secretary if you plan to attend a meeting so that we will know to expect you. |
