2003 STATE CONVENTION INFO

The 2003 Massachusetts JCL State Convention will be held on Friday and Saturday, May 16th and 17th at University of Massachusetts at Amherst. As you can tell, this is a two-day convention. This year's convention theme is

"Natura inest in mentibus nostris insatiabilis quaedam cupiditas veri videndi.""
"Nature has planted in our minds an insatiable longing to see the truth."

MassJCL chapters are encouraged to attend State Convention. There are numerous events that allow each delegate to test his skills. There is a graphic arts, creative art, athletic, and academic contests.

Chapters are no longer restricted to have a limited number of students in each event. Now each chapter can have as many delegates participate in each event. However, each delegate is restricted to only two creative contests. Delegates may enter as many atlethic, academic, and pre-convention contests as they wish. The top 5 scorers in each category will receive a ribbon. The top 3 scorers of each contest (i.e. academic, creative, graphic, and athletic) will receive a medal. The top 3 delegates who receive the most points and who have at least one ribbon in at least three of the four contest area will receive a trophy. For each contest, a delegate will receive 10 points for first place, 8 points for second place, 5 points for third place, 3 points for fourth place, 2 points for fifth place.

State Trophy - The state trophy will be determined by the following whole school contests only:
