Master Mariner
A tribute to my father Captain James Callendar Hayes who served in the British Mercantile Marine Service through two World Wars.

Born in Greenock in Scotland on 17th June 1879

Served an Apprenticeship with Evan Thomas  Radcliffe, a shipping  company of Cardiff, from 1897 to 1901

Received his Masters Certificate in 1904 and served as Mate for many years, including service in the White Star Line.

Served as Shipping Officer for the London County Council with the Training Ship
Exmouth.

Died in Nantwich in England on 2nd June 1981 at the age of 101
