Special Instructions for finding the last number for the new "sphero" and "Titanium series" locks. The "sphero" and "Titanium series" locks that we bought and tested opened using our methods, but we haven't tested very many locks. If you find locks that don't open using our methods, please write to us: masterunlocked@yahoo.com "sphero" lock: This lock appears to us to be basically a restyled 1500 series lock, and is marketed as having an equivalent level of security. This lock opens the same way the "1500 series" lock opens. You dial the three number combination and pull the shackle. The method of finding "sticking places" is the same as for the "1500 series" lock. Also, our lock had 12 sticking places. Four of the "fake" sticking places were obvious fakes because the center of the sticking place was half way between two numbers and the stopping places were on adjacent numbers. For example, at one fake sticking place, the dial would move from 18 to 19, so the center was at 18.5. For the correct last number, 22, the dial moved all the way from 21 to 23. The number 12 looked like it could be the correct last number, but the dial didn't turn as far. We suggest trying the sticking place where the dial moves the furthest. "Titanium series" lock: This lock is marketed as a more secure lock than the 1500 series lock. It appears to be more resistant to force. We note that it's shackle has a smaller diameter, 1/4", than the 1500 series lock's 9/32". However, the shackle could be stronger if made of stronger material. To open this lock, you dial the correct three number combination and then push a button on the front of the lock. To find sticking places, push on the button instead of pulling on the shackle. On our lock, two of the sticking places looked like good possibilities. The rest were obvious fakes. For some of the fakes, the center of the sticking place was half way between two numbers. For others, the dial was "harder to turn" when the button was pushed in, or it didn't move very far. When we carefully checked the two good possibilities, one of them gave itself away as a fake. The dial was slightly harder to turn when the button was pushed at the fake. Also, the dial did not turn quite as far, back and forth, at the fake as it did at the correct last number.
