If the slope is 2/3 then that would mean that we would be at two up and three to the right. make dots to guide your line .
Now that you dots are made, draw a line to see your slope and find the y and x intercept .
Another way to find the intercepts is by solving the equation. REMEMBER WHAT YOU DO TO ONE SIDE YOU DO THE SAME TO THE OTHER!!!!! we know the formula y = mx + b we know the slope m = 2/3 and we know the y-intercept b = 4 now lets write it out the equation: y = (2/3)x + 4 now to solve for y by replacing x with a zero(0) . now the equation would read as y = (2/3) 0 + 4 which equals to y = 0 + 4 which makes y = 4 Now that we know what y equals to, lets replace the y with a zero(0) and solve for x. Now the equation would read 0 = (2/3)x + 4 we subtract 4 from both sides 0 - 4 = (2/3)x + 4 - 4 now we have -4 = (2/3)x so we multiple both sides by three to get rid of the deving three -4 * 3 = (2/3)x * 3 now we got -12 = 2x so we devide both sides by 2 . so we got -6 = x now to make sure the equation is true replace both sides with the x variable with -6 . So now we got 0 = (2/3)(-6) + 4 so we subtract 4 from both sides and get 0 = (2/3)(-6) and solve this by multiplying by 3 both sides. -4 * 3 = (2/3)(-6) * 3 so we got -12 = 2 * -6 shich is also -12 so -12 = -12 |
