Samurai X: The Motion Picture By Matt First of all, I gotta say that I have never seen any Samurai X episodes before I saw this movie, I've barely even heard of it but this movie is just awesome! This movie is set in 1800's Japan and it immediately explodes into action with the opening scene, which is a battle that takes place about 10 years earlier. You see a group of samurai attack a house full of 2 other samurai clans who are meeting. A bloody sword fight breaks out and the two samurai leaders battle. Only one of them wins, this one is Kenshin (he's the main character) who walks away with only some blood running down the side of his face. (This fight is the main focus of the movie and there are many flash- back scenes of this battle from different people's points of view.) The movie then goes to the opening credits and a really crappy song with an even crappier singer, it shows Kenshin and some of his friends riding in a train enjoying the view. As soon as the 2 minutes of torture end, Kenshin and his friends arrive in Yokohama where there are many western style buildings (this was very new to the people of Japan in the 1800's), there are also British establishments as well. Well, Kenshin and his friends aren't there for more than ten minuets and a fight breaks out between a samurai and some British sailors because they were harassing a young lady named Toki. The samurai quickly puts a stop to the sailors and Kenshin helps out too. He stops a sailor who was getting a rifle out. Kenshin also notes that he cannot shed anyone's blood using a reverse bladed sword (after the opening battle, Kenshin did not want to kill anymore and swore not to, he only uses his sword to defend himself, never to attack). He later meets up with the other samurai. This is the main setting of the story which leads into something much bigger. The whole movie revolves around that fight ten years ago and I don't think it would be fair to give away anymore of this great movie, so I guess you'll have to see it for yourself. You can probably pick it up at your local FYE store for about twenty bucks, which is what I did. The suggested rating on the box was 17+ but its mainly due to voilence. There is almost no bad language in this movie except for the word "bastard" which is said about 3 times. Okay, I guess I'll shut up....for now. Questions? Comments?
