One day a wise woman who was
traveling in the mountains found a precious stone in a stream.
Proceeding along the next day, she met another traveler who was worn and
hungry. Directly the wise woman opened her bag to share her food.
It was then the hungry traveler saw the precious stone and asked the
woman to give it to him.
Without hesitation the woman gave him food and the precious stone he had
asked for.
The traveler ate and went along his way rejoicing in his good fortune.
He knew the stone was worth enough to give him wealth for a lifetime.
But, a few days later, he backtracked and came to the wise woman resting
under a tree.
"I've been thinking," he said.
"I know how valuable this stone is, but I give it back in the hope that
you can share with me something even more precious. The strength that
enabled you to give me this stone. |
