THE BASICS: I was born in 1974 at Grossmont Hospital in San Diego, in the same hospital my son Max would later be born in.  When I graduated from high school I headed north to hell froze over (otherwise known as the University of Alaska at Fairbanks), where I met Antoine within the first few weeks.  To make a long, complicated story short and simple, we were - more or less - together throughout five years of college, after which he had a degree in Electrical Engineering and I had 120+ credits which added up to nothing.  I finally admitted to myself that what I really wanted to do was work in a bookstore and dropped out.  Together we went to Seattle (where I worked for Barnes and Noble ), then Juneau, AK (where I worked for a wonderful independant store), then *gasp* we broke up.  I took the opportunity to work on a cruise ship for awhile, but the conditions were not what I was told they would be and I eventually worked my way back down to San Diego and got a job at Borders.  Inevitably, Antoine eventually came and got me and we finally decided to get married in the quickest, cheapest way possible.  Almost immediately, we became pregnant with Max.  We stayed in San Diego until May of 2001, when we thankfully packed up our stuff to head back home to Alaska.  I am now a full time, stay at home mother and will be until my son starts kindergarten.
