THE PROMISE

A promise to love, to hold
A promise to stay
A promise of comfort, a promise so strong
A promise of all good things

Joy, laughter and tears
You've shared with me
You've given me strength and peace
You've embraced me, took care of me
Hold me, catched me when I fall

You found me when I was lost
Followed me wherever I go
Promised me victory over my enemies
Promised me all good things
Even made me stay in a land of milk and honey

Oh how long will You love and keep me
I asked as I've sinned and tore Your heart
many times
Up to when will You carry me in Your arms
dress my wounds,
wash my feet and give me living water to drink

You simply smiled and held me
"My child, as you see, I love you with all My heart.
Stop doubting, for I have prepared a place
for you where I am."

"Be ready for that time, endure all the more
The promise I once made is already done
After the victory I had in calvary..."

"You must promise unto Me, to sin no more
accept Me in your heart
And I'll show you the door
I'll be with You in the garden of eternal life
and you'll never again be poor."
