Destiny started out being just me putting my thoughts into another character's head again, but it became so much more. Remember how I said that I was annoyed with my style of writing when I was working on Rumble? Well, this was my experiment in change. I tried to write the whole fic in Wesley's voice. I think I actually did a pretty good job.
I have discovered that writing a story about a character that I never thought that much about before can make them deeply interesting and... lovable (to me, of course, I don't care what you think of him). That's not to say that Wesley seems very lovable lately, prickly would be a more apt term, especially with that beard. But he's been one of my more favorite characters for a while, and with the complete destruction of Cordelia and near destruction of Angel, Wesley has risen as my favorite Angel character.
Um, not that that has a lot to do with writing Destiny.
I was watching my tape of 'The Zeppo' the day after I posted Destiny, and there's that huge three-headed monster thing, and it got me thinking. What if that thing is supposed to gaurd the Hellmouth? Like, it just sits right under the mouth of hell, and if anyone tries to open it and go through, this monster will eat them. It'll eat whoever's nearest when the hellmouth opens. So this guy's like the last line of defense against villains who want to end the world. But since Buffy and Co. killed it, that protection is gone.
It would have fit very nicely into Destiny, but I thought of it too late.
