Within This Vault Lie the Remains of
         Capt. Josephus R.Quin
        of the Confederate Army
He was born in Holmesville Aug.12, 1826.
Was killed at Harrisonburg July 11, 1864
while leading his company in a charge
           upon the enemy work.

There fell a loving husband and a kind father,
a generous friend and a Gallant Soldier.
He died with his compatriots, a glorious
sacrifice to the cause of human Liberty
Homesville is an old community, very old. I'm one fourth Holmes, so this town interest me, a lot. I spent some time exploring the little community and the cemetery which is old, very old.
The pictures are of the old courthouse which still serves as a voting station.
Notice the wooden shutters.
The Quin Family has been here a while.
DAR (Daughters of the American Revolultion) Ray, Check out the McComb Chapter for some of your Revolutioary War Patriots. One story is that they came to Mississippi because they were paid in land for their service in the Rev. War because the Congressional Congress had no money. Some of the land had been owned by British sympathisers, and, well, it just wasn't theirs anymore. Mississippi didn't just start having history yesterday. I guarantee.
The town's old store.
The local favorite bread was often advertised on the grocery's  door. This was a great advertising gimick.
I was headed out of town when I saw this one. Notice again, only the front is painted.
