| Doposcuola (After-School Tuition) Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 4:00pm and 6:30pm we gather the children of the area to help them in their homework. We also try to teach them some values through the reflections we have with them and especially through our example. 16:00 Children arrive and start homework 17:00 Prayers 17:15 Off to the swings ... 18:30 Start making our way home Summer Camp A summer Camp is organised during the month of July. This involves a lot of preparation, especially when one considers that over 100 children attend. The children who attend are children from the area of Cottonera as well as other from some Residential homes in Malta. These children are the biggest gift which we as helpers could ever recieve. If you don't believe just Come and See for yourself! Clearly this 'mission' is done on a voluntary basis. Very often the helpers loose the chance to find a job for the whole summer and thus make a big sacrifice. However i can assure you that it is worthwhile. The day starts as early s 9am and the day is full of activities, which include games, crafts, swimming (twice a week), cathecism, videos, etc... Since we stay together till 3pm we also feed the children during school hours. It is a beautiful experience to eat with the children as it promotes a family spirit between the helpers and the children. This doesn't happen on Saturday as we have half day. The work involves is vast as one can imagine and a lot of help is needed. If you wish to offer your time please don't hesitate to contact us. |
