Beginning in June: Summer, ISSUE #13: Submission Period begins May 8th, 2009.
"You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" Issue #12 SUBMISSION PERIOD IS NOW CLOSED. The publication of our special themed issue had been moved back in order to accomodate the 2009 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. Work accepted for publication in this issue slated to appear at the Festival on the campus at UCLA.
Editors Tips: Stay on topic. Less is more. We're looking for narrative works that introduce us to people, places and events. No science fiction, gore, horror or Hallmark movie-of-the-month stories, please.
HOW TO SUBMIT: Go to our submissions page and fill out the form. There is no reading fee. No attachments will be opened. If you have corresponding artwork, please note in the body of your submission. Please provide contact info at the end of submission. IF YOU HAVE A SPAM FILTER, ADD US. IF YOU CHANGE E-MAILS AFTER SUBMITTING, PLEASE INFORM US. Include a phone number with your manuscript. If we cannot reach you after a manuscript is selected for publication we will try to notify you otherwise - many manuscripts have been dropped from our publication over the years because the writer went incommuncado.
- REGULAR SHORT FICTION - Looking for work that describes a person, place or event. Strong characterization and detail. Word range: 400 - 2,100 words. Slightly over word range OK if story needs to wind itself up. We often offer editorial assistance to all writers, suggestions that we think help the work flow better or make the characters clearer before the story is sent forward to the editorial board for review.
SUBMISSION PERIOD FOR SUMMER ISSUE TO OPEN MAY 8TH, 2009.
