BAKER & MCKENZIE

I worked as an International Law Clerk for Baker & McKenzie while I was in Bangkok.

While I was there, I learned a lot about international business transactions and Thai law.  The majority of my work involved reviewing the english of legal documents or helping draft contracts.  At the time, Thailand was climbing out of the Asian Financial Crisis.  Most of the work dealt with debt restructuring and mergers.

Here are pictures from my last days at Baker.  This is Uan, Tom, Me, Jaeb, and another friend.

Hong stressed about Khun Jason with Uan & Tom watching.

Every year B&M has a Christmas banquet for the entire office.  They hired a band/comedy/vaudville type group who sing, do skits, and slap stick comedy (complete with rim shots and dwarves, I'm not kidding...).  At one point the attorneys got into the act with skits and songs they had written themselves.   Don't quit your day jobs quite yet guys...

Lots of food, lots of merriment, and needless to say lots of drunk attorneys.  There was a lottery of sorts where you could win microwaves, cash, TVs, and other consumer electronics.  I didn't win jack.  But that was okay.

One of the American attorneys got 5000 baht and took me and the two new Australian clerks out to Pat-pong.  Boy was that an eye opener!!  Lets just say that some of the most beautiful women I've ever seen were men.  We lost the Aussie's there and checked out the Star of Love.  'Nuff said...
