Mabuhay! This is Doc Ellen, your Alumni President, giving you summary on how Ipil Marian College Alumni Association (IMCAA) came about.

Why Batch '79? You may have wondered why as you review the list of officers, majority of us came from Batch '79. Do we consider our batch lucky (or unlucky) to be given the task of starting the true IMCAA.

On March 23, 2004, during the Marian College Graduation, a group of concerned alumni from Batch '78 attended the affair to initiate the now known Alumni Association. Officially, on March 27, 2004, a meeting was held among Marian College Administrators headed by the then Bishop Antonio Ledesma, SJ, DD, Alumni President Ramon Villafuerte and the concerned group from Batch '78. There and then they agreed to hold an ANNUAL GRAND ALUMNI HOMECOMING on the occasion of the 46th Foundation Day of Marian College on December 8-11, 2004. With Felix A. Triambulo,
MBE, the then Dean of College, acting as the Coordinator, a long term plan of an annual alumni homecoming until the Golden Jubilee of Marian College in 2008 was programmed. The plan aimed to honor the Silver Jubilarian of that particular year and other alumni who have graduated more than 25 years ago, scheduled as follows:

Foundation Date           Silver Jubilarian                   Honorees
46th - Dec 11, 2004               Batch '79                      Batches 1961-1966
47th - Dec 2005                     Batch '80                      Batches 1967-1970
48th - Dec 2006                     Batch '81                      Batches 1971-1973
49th - Dec 2007                     Batch '82                      Batches 1974-1976
50th - Dec 2008                     Batch '83                      Batches 1977-1978

Thus the First Alumni Homecoming with the theme "Sailing Across the Time" took place on December 11, 2004 with Batch '79 as the host batch and the pioneer batch as the honorees. Batch '79 was taken off guard with the plan but with Sir Triambulo coordinating, we successfully went through with the affair. A registration/food fee of P250/alumni was agreed, for which later comments of its too high a fee was well taken. There were three alumni recognized as Most Outstanding Alumni - Atty. Arthur L. Ventura, Batch '65; Isabel A. Agpawa-Muyargas,
EdD, Batch '63; and Milagros B. Lao-lao - Rodriguez, PhD, Batch '66. Unfortunately, only Dr. Rodriguez graced the occasion to personally accept her award. The highlight of the affair was the election of officers for which three of us vied for the presidency ( the other two were Atty Nicerio Napigkit of Batch '74 and Prisco Canete of the Pioneer Batch). The rest was history.
