Introduction:
A life
cycle is the ordered stages that occur in a plant or
animal's lifetime. The chicken goes through a three stage life cycle
that is called an Incomplete Metamorphosis.
Task:
Have
you ever wondered what came first, the chicken or the egg? Your task
is to become a chicken expert on this WebQuest! You will use the web
to learn about chickens. What are the stages in a chickens life
cycle? What happens during each stage? What does a chicken look like
in each stage? How do chickens sound? What do they eat? How long do
they live? Learn all that you can about these silly birds. Good
luck!

Process:
Each
chicken research team will include 2 people. I will assign both of
you a job. One person will be the navigator. The navigator's job is
to operate the computer by clicking on links to go to website links.
The other person will be the recorder. The recorder's job is to write
down pieces of information you need to complete your task of becoming
a chicken expert.
You will demonstrate
your expertise by creating and presenting a Kid Pix Studio Deluxe
slide show with 7 slides. The first slide will be a title slide. Then
create a slide about each stage in the chicken's life cycle. Since
there are three stages you will need three slides to explain the life
cycle stages. The following two slides will include other interesting
information you have learned. You decide what will be most
interesting to tell about on these slides. The last or seventh slide
will include a list of the resources you used.
Each team will
present their slide show to the class.
Evaluation:
Complete a student
rubric after you finish your research, storyboards, editing and slide
show.
Click to print a copy
of the student rubric.
Conclusion:
Wow!
You have learned so much about the life cycle of a chicken. Did you
enjoy using the World Wide Web for research? What is the most
important fact about chickens that you learned on this WebQuest? Did
you enjoy working with a partner? Write in you journal to reflect on
these questions.
