Who we are: We are an affiliate of the Mood Disorders Association of Ontario, a province wide network of over 50 Self- Help groups for people living with an emotional illness. We work to enhance the quality of life for those living with an emotional illness through support, information and advocacy. What we do: * We provide an environment where people with emotional illness are treated with care and compassion, respect and equality. * We provide an opportunity to meet others facing the same challenges and changes. * We provide an opportunity to share emotional/ practical support and exchange information * We provide an opportunity to meet on a regular, ongoing basis at no cost. * We provide an opportunity to participate in an environment run by and for consumers. * We provide an opportunity to develop confidence and a sense of belonging. * We provide an opportunity to see that, even with emotional illness, you can lead a meaningful life. * We are dedicated to fostering self-help in a peer-to- peer model. * We are dedicated to eliminating discrimination and stigma. * We are dedicated to working with community partners. * We are dedicated to advocating on behalf of people with an emotional illness Disclaimer: * We are a self-help peer-to-peer support group, not a treatment program * We are Not mental health professionals; we do not diagnose, prescribe or counsel. * We Do Not, in any manner, attempt to replace formal/professional treatment, although we may work as a compliment to formal treatment. |
