Did you know? Latinos represent almost 10% of the student enrollment in higher education. We compose 14.5% of the college age population in the United States. This is expected to rise to 22% by 2025. The representation of Latinos has grown 198% between 1983 and 2003. Latinos who enroll in college immediately following high school enter at a similar rate compared to other groups. 66% Latinos 60% African Americans 68% Whites The ones who enter between the ages of 20-24 have a lower rate of enrollment compared to other groups. 36% Latinos 40% African Americans 46% Whites 53% of Latinos in higher education attend two-year colleges, compared to 53% African American and 56% Whites who enroll in four-year universities. The Latio rate in Graduate Schools has also increased during the last couple of years. We compose 4% of the graduate population, while African Americans hold 6% and Whites hold 73%. |
