From a lonely mountain side two months after their last battle Defalk committed an act he still regrets to this day. Summoning forth the awesome powers kept within the Earth he wiped that human kingdom off of the face of Shinwa in a rolling cloud of super heated gas, ash, and stone. Nothing but a flat barren plain over a hundred miles wide and across remained afterward. Believing Sora and thus her first guardian destroyed Defalk left for home and the comfort of his family.
It was then that Defalk, the greatest and most powerful of the Griffin, fell to the magic’s of the people he had so long fought to protect. Upon his return Defalk found that his family had been sealed with in a number of different forms, including gems, human forms, and powerful magical items.
Defalk himself was sealed in the form of a truly powerful mecha. Only the sealing was not as it should of been. Instead of a weapon of war, Defalk weaved his own magics into his metal prison. Only a person of the Griffin's choosing could ever use the mighty armor. Defalk chose one such person from those that had sealed him and took the gems containing his family and race.
Nearly two millennia later Defalk chose his latest Guardian. A simple boy named Coran who was schooled in the use of geomancy and a expert with the crossbow. Coran was picked because he went to save a boy who had bullied him since childhood from a demon that the Griffin and his aged Guardian, Albert Forlorn, hunted. When the Griffin arrived he found Coran near death, and the far more powerful demon dead near by. Sadly it was to late to save the boy Coran had come to save.
With this courageous act Defalk chose Coran to replace Albert. Coran left his family shortly afterwards to keep them safe and ignorant of Defalk's presence. Coran was the one who improved the defenses of Defalk's home and created the fortress 'Under the Mountain'.
Item: Melting Crossbow, a powerful elemental weapon that can fire bolts of superheated plasma, lava, or stone. If anyone, other then Coran or the Griffin, attempts to pick the crossbow up, it explodes in a blast of super heated gasses and molten metal. The blast literally melts or burns anything with in a five foot radius. This blast will not harm Coran or the Griffin, but will do so to everybody else. Even those with immunity to flame since its a eruption of super heated gasses and sharp splinters of molten metal. The crossbow reassembles itself several moments later. Should the crossbow ever be lost he can sense where it is. Both Coran and the Griffin can pick the bolts out of the crossbow when they are created. It takes a mental command to create and load one of the three arrow types, but the cross bow must be cocked by hand to fire. Coran has to carry the crossbow but the mecha and make it disappear and reappear in its hands.
Mecha Name: Defalk the Griffin
Mecha Appearance: As a mecha Defalk is a truly beautiful machine, clad in heavy green armor with gold highlights and white feathers. Great white wings spread from the giants back like a great cloak. It's fingers are in fact sharp talons meant for cutting instead of gripping. Defalk can also transform into something resembling his original form. The beak closes and head raises to lock into a new position. The legs change and lock into something akin to those of a lion and the feathered hip guard fold back to form a feathered tail. These feathers lengthen and become fairly ridged.
Coran enters the Griffin by entering a beam of light being projected by the Griffins eyes or chest gem. He then enters a pocket dimension on a small control orb that makes him weightless. Defalk then moves as he does. He is aware of the Damage the mecha takes but receives no damage from it.
Powers: Named:
1. Flarebright (The Elemental Sovereign of Flame): Sora, the Phoenix, and Defalk, the Griffin can combine into one incredibly powerful mecha the like of which non have yet matched. This mecha speaks with a combination of it's pilots voices and the creatures themselves. The Melting Crossbow and Flaming Ax combine into a broad sword named Corona. The sword can convert into a more powerful version of either the Flaming Ax or Melting Crossbow.
Flarebright itself has access to all of the powers of the Beast's pilots and Mystical Beasts possess. In addition to this truly impressive arsenal of powers Flarebright also has complete control over the element of fire in all of its forms, including light. It is also capable of making its own attacks at will.
The Mecha itself is capable of with standing a direct strike from the God-Slayer with only minor damage. Should a spell ever manage to vaporize Flarebright it will simply be reborn from its ashes. It's combination of magics, strength, elemental control, and raw power make it the most powerful being and mecha on Shinwa. It's summoning does not affect or weaken the mecha or its pilots.
There are rumors that the Griffin can combine with the other three Beast Mecha this way, including all four becoming one truly powerful beast of nearly unimaginable power. There is in fact a legend of the four mystical beasts combining to fight a single entity who’s name has long since been forgotten, probably for the best.
However, Flarebright has a number of requirements for it to be summoned. First is that the Griffin, Phoenix, and their pilots must be near one another. Preferably clasping hands with pilots within their respective mecha. Second, and most important, things must be unimaginably dire to create the mighty armor. The pilots must also recite the summoning incantation to combine the Griffin and Phoenix.
"Brighter then the sun above, hotter then the fires below, more dazzling then the stars in the night, we summon forth Flarebright. Sovereign of Flame needed once more, blue flame we bring you to bore. In darkest night, in greatest need, it is our call you must now heed. Flarebright Sovereign of Flame let us be that which we now need."
2. With a sharp intake of breath, click in the back of the throat, and exhale Coran can breath a gout of fire hot enough to melt metal after two or three breaths. A single breath is capable of lighting nearly anything flammable on fire or making metal burning hot. Defalk with a falcon's cry is capable of breathing a beam of all consuming flame capable of melting the heaviest armor of nearly any mecha. Causing sever damage and possibly burning the pilot from the heat. The preparation for this ability makes it quite obvious Coran is about to do something of some sort. Energy can be seen forming in Defalk’s mouth as it lets out its cry just before releasing it.
