Cleansing and Protection with Light

The Shower of Light

This is not a quick mediation. Go where you won't be disturbed, take the phone of the hook if you're inside, and relax and enjoy:) It's important that you take your time, especially if you're not familiar with this type of meditation or energy work.

Sit comfortbly in a chair with your feet on the floor, sit on the floor with legs gently crossed and back straight, kneel on the floor with your back straight, or lay on your back. Close your eyes and relays your face. Take some even breaths, counting to 4 or 5 on the inhale and the exhale. Gently clear your mind. If any thoughts pop into your head, acknowledge them and let them move on. Focus on your breath and how it relates to your body. Open the 7 major chakra centers, taking your time to relate to each and it's current state. When you've opened your chakra centers, imagine that you are stepping into a perfect white showerstall. This is completely of your own creation. It can be tile, granite, outside, etc, it's yours. The shower it's self is not water, but white light of the divine, God, Goddess, Universal One, etc.. It sreams into the top of your head and rolls down into your feet, through the soles of your feet and into the earth. As it passes through you, see and feel it cleanse everypart of your body, you can start at the feet and work up to the head, or start at the top of the head and work down to the feet. See and feel the white light carrying off the impurities that have build up in your physical and astral self. Take your time.and spend as much time as you need to on each little part of yourself, see it coursing through your bones, through your muscles, through each organ, and through your chakras and carrying away any impurities. Because white light is made up of all colors, each chakra can take what it needs from it to be at the right energy level and color. Allow the white light to shower over the outside of your body too, over your hair, your skin, your face, etc. All impurities that white light removes from your physical and astral self are sinking into the earth like rainwater where they are turned into loving energy for the Earth (or goes down the drain, where it is released into the Earth).

Take it a step further: visualize your aura. Allow the light stream to run through it and cleanse it as well.

When you're through with cleansing, cap off your feet so the light energy is filling you to your brim with the healing, refueling loving and pure energy of the divine. When you're done, step out of the shower, turn it off, etc. Close up your chakras (if you have trouble visualizing this, imagine a big white light zipper that runs the length of your body and zip it up).

The most common method protection is to surround yourself with white light. Visualize a sphere or egg of white light surrounding you. You are safe in the middle of the light energy of the Universe, your God, Goddess, etc.. Nothing can enter without you giving it permission. The light can appear like a little solid fortress, pulsating, shining, you may see protective symbols twinkling in the sheild, like crosses, penticles, Eye of Horus, etc.. Whatever makes you feel safe and has the meaning of protection for you.

How did this light get here and why does it work? This is the light of your God, Goddess, Diety, the Universe, etc. It's always inside you and all around you. In the air, in the earth and all of it's creatures and plants as well as in any Astral Realm, dreamtime, etc. When you visualize the white light around you, you are using this light that's always around you and forming it into a sphere or egg of protection for you with your intent and need. It does work!

Because the energy of the divine is anywhere and everywhere, you can use it to protect you anywhere an everywhere too. You can protect yourself from negative energies, in physical (ie a negative person), spirit (those occasional visitors), you can protect yourself while you sleep by surrounding yourself with white light when you go to bed to protect yourself in the physical, protect from psychic attacks, protect yourself in dreamtime, etc. In lucid dreams I have even surrounded my dream self with white light. You can also protect yourself in the astral.

Children are more sensitive to spirits, ghosts, etc (they haven't been taught by society yet to doubt or dispell these things). For this reason, I surround both of my children in love and protection every night. My daughter used to suffer from nightmares, but since I've started this, they've stopped. I've also taught her surround herself in white light in her dreams and call me or her Diety (she has chosen Brighid for now) to help her if she's scared. The first few times she practiced with little suceess, but now she's quite pleased with it. A part of a child's fears is the fear of being alone, and helping him or her understand that the energy of his/her God or Goddess is always with her and around her is very comforting. He or she is never alone, not even when dreaming when they sometimes feel so helpless and out of control.

The easiest method I've found for cleansing and protecting space with light stems from the idea for protecting self with light detailed above. Practice this method first until it becomes easy for you. When you are comfortable with protecting yourself with light, you are ready to protect your space with light.

You will start with the room you are in. Surround yourself with white light. This is the light of protection. After you feel that you have secured your sphere of white light around you. Slowly start to expand it. Make it grow until it fills the whole room you are in. Allow the light to go slightly outside the perimeter of the room and sink it in to every nook and cranny. As the white light is expanding around, as you make this protective bubble of light grow, you are pushing out out the astral buildup, negative energies, unwelcomed entities, etc. The astral buildup and negativity you can push outside the home and into the earth, where it will be recycled into love and healing energies. If you have an unwanted entity, as you eject it from the home (and you WILL feel this) you may want to send it with a feeling of "Go in peace" "Go in love" or "Go with Light." When your room is full and permeated with this pulsing protective energy, you want to expand it into the next room, allowing it to grow and push out the buildup, negativity, etc and fill the room with love, positivity and protection. When that room is full and permeated with the protective and positive energy, continue on to the next room until every room and every nook and cranny is permeated with this light energy. If you live in an apartment, then you would visualize the outter bounderies of the apartment pulsing and fortified with this protective energy. Nothing will pass this boundry without your permission. Note: When you use this method of cleansing, you will not be ejecting your guides or the guides of other occupants of the home. No need to worry:) If you live in a house then extend the energy to the outside of the house. Now your house if full of and permeated with the protective and positive energy of the universe, and you have exteded the sphere to encompass your house, around, above and below it. There is a solid sphere of positivity and protection your home is right in the middle of it. You may even want to extend it to your property lines to cleanse and protect your property. When the sphere is where it needs to be, I envision the outermost shell of the sphere to "harden" or solidify, then golden or silvery energies travel around the circumference of the circle three times, and on the third time they shoot out and expand over the outside of the entire sphere, above and below the earth. It becomes a solid orb or golden, silvery and white energy that nothing will cross. I've done this from everynight when needed to once a week, usually as I lay in bed at night. One night while I was using this method four large black panthers appeared at the four corners of my house. I was honored by this protection, and they still remain:)
