This is a story that my buddy Molly wrote for me for my 18th birthday. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Legolas falls behind the Company. He becomes frighteningly aware of dozens of longing eyes following his every move. He gazes out at the dark box filled with rows of seats and shadows of figures. His eyes fall on a young woman with flowing dark hair and an elvish demeanor, who seems to be salivating at the very sight of him. She holds in her hand a balloon that reads: "Happy 18th Birthday!". A tall female with red hair sits next to her, sporting a pointy hat with the number 18 chaotically decorating its sides. He hears her urgently whisper, "Gwendelyn Robson! I think he's looking at you!" He fails to hear the confused summons of Aragorn, for he is enraptured with the sight of his love. Legolas says: Oh Gwendelyn! Your eyes shine brighter than the light of Elendil, and you are fairer than the Lady bathed in sunlight on Midsummer's Day! I could not bear all the ages of Middle Earth and beyond the Grey Havens without hearing the sweet melody of your voice! Now that you are legal, I will give you my heart and all of my gorgeous body to do what you will with! To the great surprise of his comrades and the people in the movie theatre, he jumps out of the screen, takes her into his arms, and jumps back into the screen before anyone can blink. Upon returning, Boromir notices a ring similar to Frodo's strung around her neck, and in a madness he could no longer battle, he jumps toward her in an attempt to seize it. Legolas, without thinking, lets five arrows fly, but aims them carefully enough to only give the poor man a very close haircut. Boromir stutters his apologies as Frodo gives him that hopeless, helpless, and suspicious look that Sam will surely get sick of by the end of The Return of the King. Legolas then turns to the astonished and terribly lucky young lady. Now fair Gwendelyn, you shall travel with me, and my darkness fall if ever we are parted! And the Company continues on its journey, nine once again. The romantic music of Enya swells as they delve into the distance. Happy Birthday. |
