Our Journey through Pregnancy...
Page 2 of Our Journey...
10/22/2005 (29 weeks) It's been a busy few weeks! My sister Nina and her family came down last weekend and helped Chad and I decorate Andrew's room (Grandma and Aunt Nancy and Debbie had already painted for us the day before!). I'll have pictures up soon! I had a doctor's appointment on Wednesday and everything is still great. Chad and I went to a parenting class at the hospital today... which got me more impatient to meet Andrew. We talked to a couple who are due about a month after us... she was about where I was a month ago as fars as being stressed out over so much to do... nice to know it wasn't just me and now, a month later, I am feeling much more prepared! We've been scheduling showers and I'm starting to make plans for maternity leave at work. About 2 months to go! 10/7/2005 (27 weeks) Well, I passed my 3 hour glucose test (YAY!!!)... and I'm feeling a little less overwhelmed since we have gotten some stuff done. We are planning on fixing up Andrew's room next weekend... besides that, not much new since the last update! I'll be sure to post pics next week! 10/1/2005 (26 weeks) Wow, it just hit me that we are almost in the third trimester! I've been spending some time tonight doing some journaling for a pregnancy scrapbook I am putting together and it is so amazing to look back on how much has changed over the past 5 or 6 months. I feel like I haven't done a good enough job at making a record of it... I've shared a lot about activity in our lives but not so much about how we have felt about it all. I was just writing that the past few months we have been *extremely* busy... registering and shopping and signing up for classes, not to mention everything else in our lives not related to having a baby on the way... but it has been so amazing too realizing just how much Andrew has been growing and changing (and me too!). He has been moving around a lot more the past couple of weeks. It has been really nice to go to doctor's appointments and know that he is okay even before we get to hear his heartbeat. We hit our first "maybe something is wrong besides Melody worrying too much" moment this week. I failed my one hour gestational diabetes screen and have to go back on Tuesday to do the 3 hour one. I'm trying to be optimistic and know that statistically most people who fail the one hour do fine on the 3 hour test... but I also know that diabetes runs all over my family and I already had some insulin resistance issues before getting pregnant... so even though gd is one of the most common pregnancy complications I'm pretty concerned about it... I've been overwhelmed with all of the running around we have been doing combined with being sick over the past week, crazy weeks at work for both Chad and I, and probably pg emotions in general... plus I know that being sick and the medicine I have been taking for that only raises blood sugar more which only increases my chances of failing the next test. Right now a possible gd diagnosis just seems like one more thing to handle when I am already overloaded... and then I just feel guilty because I have had such an easy pregnancy so far that surely I should be able to handle this for a few months if needed... I guess we'll know some answers in a few days... check back for updates. 9/24/2005 (25 weeks) Hmm... what has happened this month??? Andrew is still doing great and moving around more and more (but his Daddy says he still can't tell). We have a doctor's appointment next week and we have almost made it to the third trimester! We don't seem to have much to show for as busy as we've been. We have started (but not quite finished) registries at Target and Babies 'r Us and have some vague idea of baby showers in the future. We are *still* waiting on crib bedding to come in that we got off Ebay (and getting really impatient!). That's about it for now! 8/24/2005 A long overdue update... (21 weeks) Wow, so much has been happening that mommy hasn't had time to keep you updated! We went to the beach and had fun playing in the waves and then came back home and mommy and daddy got to see me again! They found out that I am a boy and I weighed 12 ounces (that was a couple of weeks ago, I bet I've grown since then!) They keep telling me that there is a lot of cool stuff waiting for me when it is time for me to be born... they bought me a crib and a teddy bear and a car seat to keep me safe... I keep trying to squirm around and get comfy (that's what Daddy said when he saw me on the ultrasound) but Mommy can't really tell most of the time yet. And, oh yeah, the biggest news is that I have a name -- Andrew Lawrence. Andrew is after Daddy's granddaddy and Lawrence is Mommy's grandaddy's last name (or my Granny's maiden name). Now Mommy just has to get used to calling me that instead of "baby" all of the time... but somehow I figure I'm going to get called lots of stuff besides my name anyway after I am born (probably before too!). 6/23/2005 An update from mommy this time... (12 weeks) We went to the doctor for our 12 week appointment and everything looks great! We got to hear baby's heartbeat and are glad to be past this milestone! Not many changes to update everyone on right now, but I am sure this page will get busier as the weeks go on! And, yes, baby got poked on this time too... by a different nurse... but s/he (I don't want to influence your poll voting!) is probably used to it from me by now anyway! 5/26/2005 I met the doctor and mommy and daddy "met" me! (8 weeks) We went to the doctor's office for the first time today... I like the doctor, he does a good job of helping Mommy calm down which makes it easier for me to concentrate on growing and other important stuff. Mommy got to have something called an ultrasound where she and Daddy could see me. They were really happy about that. The nurse told them I am measuring 9w1d and that my heartbeat is 176 beats per minute -- I think Mommy's was that fast coming in to see the doctor too! Anyway, all that means is that I am doing great! I was so glad everything was going well that I decided to go to sleep... until some mean nurse decided to start poking around and trying to wake me up... I'm going to have to watch out for her! Bye! |
