The team to beat looked mighty impressive again, even though they had to rely on a howler to take the lead....under no pressure whatsoever, the Czech left-back turned and fed Henry, who needed no second invitation to bear down on the Czech goal and give France the lead with a beautiful shot rolled just inside the far corner...the game continued fairly uneventfully until Nedved burst through to the edge of the box and was clearly brought down outside the area, but the referee pointed to the spot....roll on those video replays! Poborsky equalised with a drill down the middle.....and France had to wait until the hour to reaffirm their superiority when Djorkaeff, a half-time substitute for Petit, rifled home after uncertainty in the Czech defence....6 points out of 6....bring on the Dutch.... |

Well, they say it's a game of two halves, and how right they are...! The Dutch didn't look particularly special for the second opening period in a row, and I tried to pre-empt another mugging by going into Berlin for the night a bit early, leaving at half-time....whereupon the Dutch apparently awoke from their slumbers and gave the Danes a lesson.....6 points out of 6....bring on the French..... |
