Spain 2 - 1 Slovenia
Raul 4        Zahovic 59
Etxeberria 60

Another typical EURO 2000 affair, the favourites taking the lead after just four minutes, Raul showing he can actually justify some of the hype surrounding him with a fine shot into the top left-hand corner, and then seemingly forgetting how to play for the rest of the half.....after the restart Slovenia briefly made a game of it, with a comedy goal arriving on 59...a move down the left brought a squared centre with two attackers running onto it...the first (and seemingly more likely to score) completely missed his kick, thereby selling the 'keeper the best dummy possible, and his mate behind him just stabbed the ball into the opposite corner to where the 'keeper had dived....and within a minute Spain had retaken the lead, Etxeberria driving home low and hard after being fed by Mendieta, who'd just beaten most of the Slovenian team....Keep it coming, lads, keep it coming.....

Norway  0 - 1 Yugoslavia
                        Milosevic 8

Not a classic by any means, but the Yugoslavs won't mind about that, as a bad-tempered game which produced only a solitary goal saw them leapfrog to the top of Group C, the goal in question coming from Savo Milosevic, an enterprising flick into the corner from a long, diagonal ball into the box....the rest of the game didn't produce much by way of excitement, but as I said, the Yugoslavs at least won't give a tinker's cuss....!
