Swing Me To Heaven

One day I took a stroll in the park, just as I do every
Saturday. When I walked passed them, I saw a pretty
little girl seated on one of the swings. As I approached I
greeted her with a hello. In a shy little voice she
answered saying, “ Hello lady! Would you please push
my swing for me?” I smiled and answered yes.

I began pushing the little girl in the swing. At first she
seemed to be enjoying swinging, but then she ask me to
swing her higher. So I began to push the swing higher,
but the little girl again ask me to swing her still higher. I
answered telling her I thought she was swinging high
enough. But she told me she still wanted to swing
higher. When I refused this request she said, “Swing me
to Heaven, so I can see my Mommy! Grandma told me
God took Mommy to Heaven. She said I would get to
see my Mommy again when I went to Heaven, So please
lady, swing me so high I will get to see my Mommy!”

I was at a loss for words, but an older lady showed up
about that time and she told the little girl it was time for
her to go home. The little girl stopped the swing and got
off, but as she left with the older lady she turned to me
and said, “ Thank you for being so nice to me! Thank
you for trying to help me swing up to Heaven! I miss my
Mommy so much!”

The older lady told me she was sorry if her granddaughter
had been bothering me, but the child had only lost her Mother
a month before and was still trying to adjust. I gave her my
condolences and as I finished my walk my mind could not
forget that sad little girl. Now every Saturday when I pass
that swing I remember her and how she had wanted to
swing high enough to get to Heaven.
