Or if you prefer, there is an alphabetical-by-title list of all the songs
here: Alphabetical Listing
(5/20/02) It's hard to believe it's been 5 years.... or that
there are 436 different songs with lyrics available here. The show
has also used some additional songs that I haven't tracked down yet,
and some random number of instrumentals. It's rather frightening when
I stop and think about it. I've learned an awful lot about several
music genres which I'd never really listened to before, and if it's
not all strictly useful (did I really need to know there is a song
that goes "Yummy yummy yummy, I've got love in my tummy"????), I
certainly enjoy those late night ads for "Greatest Hits of the 70's"
far more than I ever used to :o). I plan to leave this site here for
awhile (what else would I do with all these lyrics?), and I might
even go hunting for some of the missing songs someday soon.
Meanwhile, I just want to say thanks to everybody who took the
time to let me know they liked my site. It's really been a labor of
love. Ally McBeal provided an outlet for my own sense of humor at a
time in my life when I felt very isolated. And although I've found
this year rough going at times and wasn't tremendously upset to hear
that the show had been cancelled, I nevertheless had tears in my eyes
at the end of the finale. I'm not quite sure what that says about me,
but I know that this show has a place in my heart.
When watching Ally McBeal, it's hard to miss the great music that
runs through the show, punctuating ideas and, occasionally, taking
over the action. This page was created after many frantic post-show
searches to find the lyrics to some song, so I could sing more than
the one phrase I actually remembered. And it occurred to me that it
might be easier if the lyrics were all in one place. Since I couldn't
find any such place, I decided to create it myself.
In creating this archive, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to TKTV - Ally McBeal
(formerly Dana's Ally McBeal Page), and the listings, supplied by
Monkey Girl, of music by episode. In fact, I couldn't have created it
otherwise, since I don't have access to the first 3 seasons on tape,
and wasn't keeping track of the music for the first couple of years.
This means that I am not always certain which song of a given
title was on the show, and may have found the wrong lyrics. If this
is the case, please let me know!!!!
Nearly all of these lyrics were pulled from various sources on the
web, to which I've provided links on each page. I felt it was prudent
to copy and repost the lyrics here, and I do not intend to make sure
that these links stay active. I don't have any sound files for these
songs, nor do I really know where to find such things. The majority
of the songs on the show are not performed by the original artist
anyhow. I do, however, include the song title and the artist, at the
top of each individual song page, so if you are really interested in
the song it should be fairly easy to track down either a soundfile or
an album to purchase.
